Large electrical draw

Been trying to trace this down with no success so far. Have about a 1.8 amp draw at the moment. The first clue I had one was when I noticed the check engine staying on with the key off. Looks to be in the power train as when I remove the base module or the LH module it drops off. Still there when all fuses are removed including the three in the base module. Anyone have something similar before?

First make sure the DM itself isn't faulty. Disconnect the DM and see if the drain goes away. When I had the CEL remain on with the key off/removed, it was a defective DM and replacing it cured the problem. However I don't recall if there was also a power drain.

If disconnecting the DM does NOT reduce the 1.8A draw, it's 99.44% likely you have a problem with diagnostic port X11/4. Click here for details. I know it's a long winded thread, but you need to understand what you're dealing with before digging in further.

:shocking:

Welllll. Diag port looks perfect. Nothing like the pics with the knackered wiring. Pulled the DM and draw drops to 1.44A. Better but there is more to the story.

Per the link above, if pulling the BM/GM eliminates the draw, it's pretty likely the diagnostic port... the issue can be internal and not easily visible. Read post #4.
