As Mercedes wants to sell this little device as if it was made out of gold, I was wondering if anyone knew the exact dimension so that I can take something from the DIY store. Mercedes part no is: 117 589 00 90 00

thx

Note that for flushing the 034/036, it's easiest to remove the lower radiator hose and open BOTH block drains. Then (with COLD engine) stick a garden hose into the upper radiator neck and intake manifold neck. That flushes the radiator & block.

Flushing the heater core and pipes is more tricky... easiest method is to fill the engine with water, heater on max, run to operating temp, drain... and repeat a few times.

:klink:

According to my old WIS (which -I managed to get to run) it is for all W126 and W124 engines. connects between the radiator and the main cooling pipe and you can push water in. It just makes it easer, but that silly money I either go to the DIY store, or I remove the thermostat.

I just can't find anything on the hose / Radiator connection diameter. I'll report back once I solved it

While I agree with you, that approach is underengineered for a German

This is exactly how I did the coolant change on my 119.980 and IMO worked great.

Now I'm curious on how the "official" procedure goes!
