My '92 in brilliant silver is being painted as I type (finally!)...bare metal, glass out. I provided the painter with the codes that are pinned at the top of this section (below), and he had a question regarding "matt" for the cladding/lower area, #7181.

Specifically, we were trying to figure out if the Atlas Grey was "matt" as it might have been defined in 1992 and, therefore, more of a semi-gloss today, or was it really a matte finish.
I left a message with MB Classic and what sounded like a "seasoned" gentlemen just called me back; he said it's not a matt/matte but rather a "silk gloss," which is closer to a semi-gloss, and, of course, not as glossy as the brilliant silver paint above it.
This explanation was quite helpful on my end of things, so I just thought I'd share.
Will post pix when we're done but this has been a helluva ride. Pro tip so far: Put weep holes in the bottom of the cladding that's directly behind the front wheels. I'll show you how I know when the car's done in a few more weeks.
Thx!
Bob
