Ah, and since the 126 uses shocks on all 4 corners (no struts), you should see very little if any ride height changes when changing from old to new.

:roadrunner:

lowmania strikes again! You would have cleaned up in class 6, easily, at Monterey Legends of the Autobahn this past weekend. Solid work man. Dare I ask - how clean is your kitchen sink? :-)
hey mister
thank you so much for kind words :)
My kitchen sink is pretty much spotless :)

That is awesome resto work. Dare I say better than new?

drew

Thank you sooo much !i apreaciate that very much.Well...better than new is a very bold statement..and its not in my nature agreeing with such a statement..but..it is at least miles better than the car was when i got it..and its getting to a point now where i really enjoy the car...and the state of it..it now is a car that can be maintained in the looks department on the underside aswell..which is a thing i like :)

Lowman, if you ever got married this mania would definitely be cured. Very nice results, you have nice details that go on forever. We can enjoy the Chronicles of Lowmania for another season.

One request - post the video like you do and the link as well, for some reason it isn't showing on mobile devices of mine.

heyyy there mister.
Thank you a million times for your kind words.I apreaciate them very much :)
Well...the girl i have been dating for A YEAR now..is pretty much cool about the whole thing...at least it seems like it." laughs" :) At first she was like.."its just a car..but its nice"...now it seems that she is a tad more "proud" of beeing around the car..and seeing the enthusiastic attention both the 500e and the 190e 2.5-16 gets at shows...and even on the "street"...so i think she has gotten the point ..that is not all just " playing with cars like a child"..if i can put it that way..But rather there beeing a high factor of enthusiastic "plan" and thought behind it all..But enough babble :) I do apreaciate your kind words:)

oh yeah..you mentioned that thing about the video links before..ill try and remember that next time.:)

well.....here we go :)
I ve just been to this big car show..and the last big event of the year.
It is a car show called "Motorama"..and its arranged by the county Amcar Club, and its held at this big "hockey/ice skating arena..so its a big event.
A lot of different cars attended...and not just "american cars"...all cars allowed..and for the most part it was "invites" only..where owners of potentional attending cars have been contacted through this season...me included. So both my cars were actually "Wanted" for the show..which is awesome i think
So the show was held over two days..and a ton of people have been visiting the show..and it was basically a great success.
So here is the cool thing..... I WON :) The best 1990 -1999 model car of the show":) My 500e did it "again"..and im so humble..proud..surprised ..that i do not have words to describe it.
So i just wanted to post a ton of pictures from the show..and some of my cars aswell...so hopefully the pictures speaks for themselves :) I hope you enjoy the pictures

Pictures are arranged from "sign in session" when dropping of the cars at thursday night..and cleanings session and putting up fence around the cars at friday...and more show pictures from saturday and sunday:)

Show time :)

Very cool lowman. True dedication to your cars.

I'm sure among the 900+ posts you've answered this question before, but what is your daily??

Well deserved lowman your cars are truly the "best of the best".
thank you so much for kinds words mister:) I apreaciate them very much..the words that is..and the cars for that matter:)
Well..best of the best " at some of the shows at least..and they are becoming better each time i work on them..so..they are very good at this point..but still "alot" to do :)

Congrats Stephan,

Looks like a great show.

Very COOL TROPHY!!
Thank you soooooo much mister T :)Yeah it was a very cool show..indeed.Even if its arranged by the Local Amcar club..they have done a great job putting this show together..with a lot of different cars..which is spot on to my liking..and many other peoples liking.Variety is key :)
And yes..the trophy was super cool :) Thanx again for kind words :)

This is my fleet:) Not the camper anyways :)

Very nice Mr. Lowman! Well deserved! [emoji106]

Thank you a a bunch,Mr H:) I apreaciate that very much..cause there were alot of other awesome cars at this show..but i guess the judges saw the "work" put into the car..and of course it is a special car from the 90"s indeed.:)

Finally got some pictures of the beautiful new armrest strut/s
First of all..I just want to thank A777fan soooo much for letting me in on this group buy after it was officially ended:) THANK YOU :)
I did not do a complete how to..as it is very much selfexplanatory...
But i have to say..i had a hard time getting the top leather cover separated from the top innepart. It seemed like it was glued on...in addition to the clips on the frame/kindof..and to the screws holding it together.
So a quick walk through in writing.Unscrew all the screws visible. Then use a plasctic prying tool to separate the plastic inners off from the leather outers...Then proceed and take your time.
Here are some pics of the process..with some obvious work steps missing...so im sorry for that.

I also had to fix the "holding hook" for the locking mechanism in the top lid/parts of the armrest.
It is originally fastened into place by two plastic tabs that are melted shut like a rivet..so its holding down the metal holding hook. These plastic tabs may break after many years of use and abuse..slamming the armrest top hard down when closing it,resulting in a top part not beeing able to stay shut when closing it.
The way i decided to fix it..was to use two component epoxy glue, and completely glue it to the base..and enclose the metal part with glue..so it will be 100% fixed to the plastic base.
First clean the area where you are putting the glue.
Fill up the cavities so the holes are completely covered with glue...
Degrease the holding hook/metal part,
Place it accuratly where it is suppsed to be seated..then let it sit for a minute.Continue to fill the surrounding area with the glue..and then let sit.
Be sure that it is correctly placed,so it will meet up correctly with the locking latch when the armrest is closed.
Here is the pictures..hopefully the pictures is a nice addition to my not as good explanation of "how to do this" :)

Here the armrest is mounted back in the car.Super happy with the result and getting this to work as it was designed.
Unfortunatly i have only one plastic strap..as the other one is broken..but i do think i have a way of making myself two new straps.I will get back to that at a later point :)
Again .thank you so much to A777fan for letting me buy two of these after the group buy was finished!!Greetings.

Missing one strap...but hopefully my idea of how to make a new one..will be done at some point :)

Holding hook finally stuck in where it belongs..so the armrest top stays shut when its supposed to :)

Dog is happy with the fix :)

Bravo! I replaced my strut and straps last year, and now when I park my car in the garage, I always leave the lid UP! I read somewhere (theory?) that this prolongs the lifespan of the strut because it is not always compressed. BTW, please allow me to share a picture with you: :evil::evil::evil::evil::evil::pc1:

Strap heaven! :)
Well..it may prolong the life of the strut..but i dont think it is no point in "thinking" it does..i mean.if it lasts 20 years with the lid down..or 25 years with the lid open..i would prefer to have the lid closed and have it lasting only 20 years...that would be fine :)

hey people
I just had to post this video here..cause i wanted to take you along for a little walkaround..to show you guys my 190e EvoLtwin, upclose.
Babbling goes along as usual..and i try to explain abit of my initial plans..and just generally babbling about this and that.
I really hope you like the video..eventhough it is on the "longer side" of a video
Greetings :)

a little addition to the armrest resto
I recently got my two plastic straps..and i did a little photo series on "how to replace them"

I hope the pictures describes what is going on

Unscrew all the screws on the inside,That leaves you with the outer parts separated from the insides

How to separate the top outer part from the inside
After unscrewing the screws..you will have to separate the inner plastic part from the outer leather shell. There are 4 tabs..which has to be "pressed " back so it will release from the inside.Using a screwdriver or at best a plastic wedge to pry it appart.I used a screwdriver which isnt optimal..as it can make some small marks in the leather..but i made it without leaving any marks.
2 tabs on each side

slide the plastic straps in place

mounted.Note the direction of the plastic tabs, pointed out with my finger.

Mounting the straps through the other part of the inside plastic panel

Twist the 90degrees..and put them through the hole

Note the difference between the pins holding the armrest shock. There are two sizes..make sure you put them back where they were before taking it appart.

Lower the inside plastic carefully down back onto the lower part of the armrest.Make sure the pin on the armrest shock is centered..so it will hit the groove in the bottom part of the armrest

Done

Remember there are two screw sizes. The long ones goes into the bottom part of the armrest. The short screws goes into the top part of the armrest

i hope you liked the pics :)

Finally got to sort out some minor details on my 190e
Been looking around to find myself a set of sunshades for the car..as the ones in the car have been lacking..in terms of broken plastics..and other imperfections
These usually are quite expensive on the Fleabay..but i found a set.Got them home in the mail..they were not as described.Contacted seller..he sent me two new ones..without no question..and recently received these..and the project could start :)
I ended up having to build two perfect sunshades of the 4 ones i had.So the pictures i post here is basically from start to finish :)

Missing plastic cover.

The driver sunshade i had to remove..because the insides of it was rattling when driving the car..and i just couldnt handle the rattle no more :)

My selection of parts :)

Two different types. The bottom one is from a facelift..as the production date suggests.

Replacing lightbulbs of course.Only the best is good enough :) OSRAM

Cleaning the "reflector" ..was kinda dirty

Crack in one of the inserts that i intended to use..so that flew out the door.Taking the mirror from this one..and putting this mirror into another plastic insert

The light lenses are different between facelift and pre faclift sunshades.

Mirror in poor condition.Scrap

Removing poor condtion mirror

Removing good condition mirror,The yellow stuff is the actual glue used from factory

Putting the good condtion mirror into the good crackfree insert.Using 2k epoxy to glue the mirror back into the insert

Done.Looks good :) Was abit "unlucky"..and the 2k creeped out on the outside of the mirror a tiny but..as you can see ...on the bottom edge..so..not completely perfect...I should have used "Hot plastic glue gun" rather..but..next time:)

I said LIGHT...and light it is :)

The leftovers :) Hopefully will get to use some of these parts..cause i do not want to throw them away..even though they are kinda useless at this point :)

Also..to find the energy to "work on the car"...i went out for a nice drive in my 190e.Cause the winter is here soon..and gotta grap every oportunity to drive when the weather is good:) I do look kinda grumpy in the first pic here..but inside..im smiling like crazy :)

I hope you liked the pics :)

And the newest video i have done
This is a "general" type of video..where i show you the "correct" way of testing for parasitic draw.Especially important to do it this way on newer cars, with alot of Ecu"s and CanBus systems..where you dont want to interupt "their sleep mode":)

A little "update" on my Evoltwin
Got the sideview mirror mounting plates updated.I made the prototypes myself..and 1 year later...the guy /company i bought the mirrors from...got them made in carbon. So finally got them home..and mounted them on the car.
Pretty happy with the result.
Also some pictures from a late autumn drive i had earlier :)

Here is the final video ,about the Lemfoerder LCA"s that i bought.
Email correspondence with Lemfoerder has ended..and the replies i got ..just made me give up in a way...and my hope for a more clear answer..is gone :) Even though they gave an answer to it all..but i find it to be not correct...

I hope you like the video.

Stephan,

I always enjoy your thread especially the pics at the moment from the sunshades forward. The Evoltwin shot in the rainstorm is great.

Re: The sunshades, they look really bright. Is that the stock oshram bulbs? Looks great.

Re: The carbon fiber side view mirrors look great also but I’m not a fan of the stickers on them.(Sorry) Is that the
manufacturer or what?

I have issues running you videos at home on my cell phone, so I have to wait until I have a computer at hand but I eventually get to see them.

lol

hey mister T :)
Thank you soooo much for kind words :) Yeah im pretty happy with that rainbow shot of the Evoltwin...you shouldve been there..the rainbow was just insanely strong..ive never seen a rainbow as strong as this particular one :)

The sunshades turned out great i think also..im glad you liked them. And yes..they are regular Osram bulbs...i think they were 10watts?im not a hundred percent sure..

The Carbon fibre mirrors is from a manufacturer in Thailand..called Hedgehog...and they make alot of fibreglass and carbon fibre parts for the 190es...evo styling and such.
Very nice quality mirrors ..AND the mirrors themselves are indeed glass..so they reflect objects very well.

The sticker is a sticker for a brand called Diebels Alt..and it is indeed a brewery....They were one of the main sponsors for when they raced the Evo2"s back in the day..so i wanted to give the mirrors a hint of "motorsport decals" on the car..even though it is not correct to the evo1"s...but still ..many people do know what brand it is...and it does give a hint back to the Evo2 dtm days :)
Here is a picture of the Diebels Alt 190e Evo2 :)

Yeah..i guess its not easy to run big videos on youtube on the cellphones...so ..make yourself a cup of coffe..or a nice cup of tea..and sit down at your computer..and enjoy the "lovely Norwegianenglish" ;)

Here is another video ,dealing with a 190e related issue :)
A little shout out to our dear Klink in this video.
Cheers :)
