This Mk 1 124 AMG with what looks like a 3.0 or 3.2 engine has been sitting for some years. It has AMG eveything and I suspect it might have a LSD.How do I find out ?I gather there is a way by jacking it up and turning the wheels.Does any one know how? Thanks

First, look for a tag on the rear of the diff which says "Spezial Ol", as shown in this photo. The ratio will be stamped into the housing, as shown in that picture (that's a 2.65 LSD diff, btw).

A more definite proof of LSD is to jack up the rear end so BOTH tires are off the ground. Put the car in Neutral so the driveshaft can turn freely. Now turn one tire by hand. If it's LSD, the other tire will turn in the same direction. If it's an open diff (or badly worn clutch-type LSD), the other tire will turn in the opposite direction. You won't be able to determine the type of LSD until the diff is removed from the car, and rear cover taken off for a visual inspection of the carrier.
