Hello,
Just doing some research and shopping around for a LSD for my E500.
Having done research for my E92 N54, which also does not come with a LSD from factory, the aftermarket LSD choices are the same: Quaife, Wavetrac, OS Giken, and Drexler for the most part.
Continuing off from my previous research, I'm almost convinced that while Quaife and Wavetrac are very competent and well-designed units, the LSD units from Drexler and OS Giken just might have an edge over them in terms of being smoother and locking better. Unfortunately, I do not have any first hand experience, and still am deciding.
I feel that Quaife and Wavetrac would already be perfect for daily street driving, and even on the track, but after doing some research and reading up that Drexler and OS Giken are both often used by factory motorsports or performance divisions, such as BMW for their stock E92 M3, or even the E92 M3 GTS track cars (Drexler), or a number of Japanese high-hp (1000 hp +) R35 GT-R drift cars (OS Giken), I can't help but want to find out more about these. There's most likely a good reason why these manufacturers and projects chose to use these high-costs but seemingly good quality units.
That's why I wanted to open a discussion and see if anyone has experience with Drexler or OS Giken specifically for our W124 E500 usages? I did encounter a post from a Japanese member (Niibe?) that seems to like the OS Giken, but haven't found any thoughts on the Drexler unit.
Also, I'm not too sure how to contact Drexler to get more information regarding their LSD offerings for W124.036, perhaps someone already has the information.
Would appreciate if anyone could share their experiences with these two company's units. Cheers
