Hello gents.

what would you guys pay for a M119 5.0L from an E50 AMG and transmission? (assuming in good condition)

$12k USD? $10k USD?

thank you

IMO... there's not enough different about the E50 engine, nor enough power gain, to justify substantial expense. I've seen them for less than half the numbers above (maybe 1/3). That would be more enticing. There's one for sale in Germany for about $5k but the oil pan is broken and the seller didn't state the miles/km's on the engine/powertrain.

For $10k+, I'd want the entire (wrecked) car!

:yayo:

I have a 2007 M119-980 5ltr (motronic) with its 5sp trans and the car service log books by an MB cerrtified techinician out of a W140 sedan.
In mint condition as only done 145k km (90k miles). I even purchased an R129 upper oil pan so it fits a W126 chassis
The W140 owner was a fanatic and the car was immaculate until it got rear ended and was written off

The local MB service centre who regularly serviced ther car (i know the owner very well) bought the wreck off the Insurance Co as he wanted the mint black interior and other various parts to swap into his own W140 and body panels etc for spare parts
I bought the engine & trans complete (without the ECU as he wanted that) and paid good money (this was like 5yrs ago) as i was tinkering with a swap into one of my W126's
I even bought a standalone TCU for 722-6 complete kit from Russell at Sound German Automotive in USA and a Haltech Elite 2000 ECU to run the engine before making the final call to stick with the M117 (as i have many spare 300hp versions of those)

Anyway from the above comments even a good condition low mileage engine with history sounds like they are not worth much in the current market. Good info as i will eventually sell it as taking up storage space.

I also have a 1990 M119-960 5 litre KE-Jet with its 4sp trans taking up storage space (not sure what they are worth these days also?)

As to one of my 300hp M117 spare engines, i ended up going down the path of getting it bored out to 6litres with CP Carillo custom forged pistons, fully worked heads with custom valve train, custom hot cams from Carobu, custom intake from Carobu to go into my 040 black 88 Euro 300hp 560SEC as a nice sweet cruiser with a bit more power on tap
