Manual swapped M119

@alabbasi, :wahoo:That’s pretty awesome! For such a young man he is vary talented. I watched all of the videos. His final driving video was great. You can see the awesome torque the M119 produces. My only comment on his build was the cutting of the holes in the trans and adapter. He did a lot of jury rigging but it all seemed to work.

Welding up the differential seemed odd to me. I thought the SL had a limited slip. I guess he made it no-slip with the welding.

He could make a few $$$ selling a comprehensive “How To” on his project.

Thanks for posting:)

With you Sir, 100% Impressive that a very young guy went for an older "classic" slipper modifications vs GM/Ford build for the "muscle" Watched all the videos as well, and by the sound of the last own, driveshaft noise issue resolved! What a fun car must it be!!!

Not all R129 have LDS, my 95 SL320 has it, and yet, my 95 SL500 does not...

@alabbasi thanks for the post indeed Sir!

Regards,
D

He did great. I'm not sure how limited slip diff works with electronic traction control. My E55 had an open diff

Just watched my way through the whole series, neat stuff, but sad he used a '97 with a 5 speed for the swap. Why couldn't he have chopped up an older 722.3 machine? :ROFLMAO:

I just reconfirmed my poor memory with ISPPI. Early 6 cyl R129s could be had with a manual trans. The 717.4 to be exact. With this in mind, its odd there weren't more obvious provisions for a manual present on the chassis, especially in the area of the shifter linkage etc. Perhaps they revised and eliminated the provisions as the model run progressed?

thx for the s/o @Dmitriyf1
Felt good I was able to pay it forward to help this project along a bit with some key info picked up through my own swap process, Ignat (owner of the SL500) is a good guy and did good with the overall swap and has actual fabrication skills unlike me haha!... Some things we ran into lined up exactly, but other details did not which was important knowledge gained. Definitely awesome to have another resource added for others out there. It won't be the last!
I am pretty sure I told him he should sign up around here, but I will remind him!

I'm pretty sure that the M112 and M113 use the same bell housing pattern for a 722.6 as the M119 so finding a suitable manual would be easier. The earlier inline 6 cars used a smaller bellhousing.
