Great historical interviews with MB engineers.
They take a look at the development of the W116 300SEL 6.3, W201 16v, ABS, suspension, W126, crumple zones, track that they tested and presented the 500E and other 124 variants, transmission development, and W140 600SEL (M120 development).

I found it very interesting as they worked their way through the models up to the W140.

Ph-a-king pure awesomeness. I like to imagine being locked up with these guys for several days in a remote, luxury yet utilitarian cabin, high up in the mountains, during a blizzard, with a barrel of cognac. Thanks for posting this

While I echo your sentiments w.r.t. admiration of these staid German engineer/car-nerd types, I am not sure that I share the degree of your enthusiasm. Were I to be trapped in a blizzard-locked cabin with copious quantities of alcohol, I think I would prefer my cabin-mates to be, ahem, more amenable to extra-curricular activities. And certainly I would hope that my cabin mates would be significantly easier on the eyes. 🤣

One of the better videos I've seen, and definitely worth the hour to watch all of it. The 500E is mentioned about 2/3 of the way through, albeit briefly.

I was glad to see my friend Mr. Waxenberger mentioned and shown in the first couple of minutes of the video, as well as being shown in the video clip congratulating the W201 2.3-16 drivers at the conclusion of the Nardo endurance/speed records that the W201 set.

These guys were giants back in the day. They did their work largely without the benefit of computers. They used "real" engineering skills, slide rules, and intuition borne of good training, experience and leadership to design the old MBs.

By the way ... the video that @Trae posted was only part 1.

Part 2 is here.

Why no subtitles on part 2?? Excellent film on the best car manufacturer in the world. 👍🏻🇮🇪 🇩🇪

The subtitles for the first part have been provided as an incredible labour of love by one of our viewers. I guess he just didn't find the time yet to complete this tedious task for the second part, too

According to Mr. Schlörbs comments in his videos, he would love to do more English subtitles. But since he is doing this videos in his free time only (in addition to a day job), he has no time for it.😥
His other films are great too, always fun to watch! (y)
