Met-L-Check Spray

I was perusing through the repair instructions for replacing the front main seal and there was a reference to this spray to check for oil leaks once the seal is installed (000 989 03 59). I went ahead and ordered it, hoping it's still in stock. Has anyone tried this stuff? At $56.24, there's no doubt it contains Kuala claw extract along with other magic ingredients. I suspect GVZ has a can of this in his "deep" spares.

Yes. Along with a can of the MB lock lubricant, and the MB Silicone Paste. Rare stuff, all. I'm strongly considering digging a sub-basement to properly preserve all of these NLA MB parts in a fully climate-controlled environment.

Given the numbers of koalas that have perished in the recent Australian fires, the price of MB orange anaerobic sealant is poised to quintuple fairly soon. Far fewer koala claws will be available for use. Fortunately the supply of Japanese satsumas (the other key ingredient) remains constant. Otherwise, I could see the price of this stuff going up 10-fold....

I'm sure a wine cellar will do the job. But some of that stuff definitely needs to be in a vault, considering its rarity and incredible demand. The question is, does GSXR have this rare spray and, if not, is he falling behind here?

:plusone:

The climate of Idaho while well-suited to potato farming, is notoriously harsh for esoteric MB adhesives and chemicals. @gsxr may be in the wrong business of repairing cars there, as Russet potato sales to McDonald's would be a lucrative endeavour for living there.

It is available from here (link) in addition to MB.

The other fluid that is very very good to have is called "Boeshield T-9," which is an aviation-centric fluid that was invented decades ago by the Boeing Company (now the owner of Douglas Commercial 8 (aka DC-8s)) as a corrosion protectant for aluminum aircraft parts. Boeshield is very important for preserving aluminum MB parts and castings, such as water pump housings. It can be purchased here (link).
