11x + 1 for me in first batch brings it to 12. If anyone else is on the fence and wants a set speak now and ill see if I can extend 1st batch numbers by 1 or 2 more sets.

If anyone tagged above is no longer interested due to the passage of time that is no problem at all but do please let me know here or by PM!

There is now a poll on this thread for preffered zinc colour of the new tools. The factory MB m119 crank lock tool is silver zinc but happy to go with silver or yellow zinc depending on which gets the most votes, so please vote in poll now! (A couple weeks away from plating stage but I would like to start ordering in the hardware)
Sorry, just come to this post a bit late. Can't quite remember why I would have expressed interest in one of these tools! Must have had a senior moment! So please exclude me from any potential purchase. With apologies.

I am still awaiting the first test plates to be watercut. But as it happens I have just bought a 3D printer and got it delivered yesterday :) (500E rear arch spats anyone?) So a great first test project was to go ahead and print the crank tools today.

More work to be done tomorrow but ill now be able to prototype the parts with my new 3D printer and send final CAD files to the watercut guy early next week removing the step of getting him to cut 1x test plate first.

Sneak peak at first print today:

I am very pleased with the fitment and I plan to test fit the lower bellhousing tool on my 500E tomorrow. Whilst I have spare m119 engine and transmission in my garage I would rather test the lower tool in an actual car to ensure 100% perfect. It's easy for me to make tiny 0.00 mm accurate adjustments.

Don't worry I'm not sending 3D printed lock tools - 100% steel :agree:

I carried out a test fit of the 3d Printed lock tool on my 500E. The bolts dropped in perfectly, really pleased!

(Ignore bolts those are just what I could grab in my garage to test fit)

I have also added a star on this tool type. I have final design now to leave with the watercut guy this evening. So in a couple of weeks I should have those plates and be able to commence the TIG welding.

Will this will fit the M117 as well, at least the factory tool does...?
That's a good question, my bother has an ex African embassy S500 but its been about 20 years since I worked on it so I dont recall the bellhousing pattern.

Do we know does the same transmission from a m119 mate to m117 engines? If so one or other tool may fit but someone would have to try it out.

The lock tools here are designed with m119 in mind. If there was sufficient interest and it is different, I could always look at m117 tools next

One minor note worth adding. It may look like the custom tool doesn't fully cover the width of the ring gear:

But it is the same approx coverage as the factory tool when flipped the other way

Otherwise it just ends up far too heavy overall! And no need to cover the whole width of the ring gear it gets plenty of purchase.

I checked and have access to an m117 V8 so I could look at that too but after these 12x get done and away to those who have waited this long!

Are there no readily available crank lock tools for the m117 V8? So a rear mounted custom tool like this one would have some interest would that be fair in saying?

The factory lock tool is still available new (116-589-01-40-00, ~$280 USD) but requires a special bracket if the transmission is removed. And, the price is quite high.

The bracket is NLA, which is what prompted the need for an alternative to allow tightening the flex plate bolts:

The factory (and quality aftermarket) crankshaft lock tool is the same for the M117 and M119, yes.

The M104 uses a different lock tool. I acquired one for the work I am doing currently on my G320. I believe this M104 tool also may be used in common with certain diesel models, as well as the M103.

:update:
Please see the post below from my 2020 Engine Bay Refresh thread, which shows the crank lock, and it being put into position on the M119. I made the notation in the accompanying text, that the same tool works for the M117.

This is a factory-pattern tool, I believe perhaps from Baum? Or maybe I got it from MB, I can't remember.....I think aftermarket though.

Correct. All OM60x diesel engines, and M103/M104, use a different lock tool: 601-589-02-40-00 (also around $280 for OE... ouch!)

There's yet another lock tool (112-589-03-40-00) for engines M112, 113, 137, 155, 156, 272, 273, and OM629, OM642 diesels. MB is equally proud of this tool at ~$250.

Most all of these have aftermarket copies available for much lower pricing. JC220's tools are different because they allow locking the M119 flywheel with the transmission removed, without the additional factory bracket tool. And, his "extra" rectangle tool allows locking the flywheel without installing the $$$ factory tool in place of the cover plate on the driver side of the transmission.
