New Griot's Garage product for heavily brake-dusted wheels

Check out this brand-new Griot's product for wheels that have heavy coatings of brake dust.

I'm going to order some up and will report back on how it works out, seeing that I'm a Textar/Jurid pad lover.

Re: New Griot's Garage product for heavily brake-dusted whee

Hmm…I have wondered about using any of the advertised self-cleaning products, but when I contacted HRE and asked about using any products (new and old) on my wheels, their reply was “hell no” on non-painted wheels. On the painted wheels, they recommend to rinse it off before the product dries on the wheel.

Now that my new calipers are further away from the center of the rotors (less heat) and with Porterfield brake pads, my wheels are even cleaner then when I had the stock 300mm and 278mm brakes with Porterfield brake pads.

I think I’ll just stick with the old water and soap approach followed with aluminum polish on the barrels.

I don't know about other brands, but Griot's regular (green) wheel cleaner has been officially certified by BBS and more recently by Dayton Wire Wheel Corp as non-harmful to wheels. The Griot's product actually carries the BBS logo on the bottle. That's good enough for me.

Cheers,
Gerry

Re: New Griot's Garage product for heavily brake-dusted whee

After i repainted my car and wheels- i never use anything but water to wash the break dust down. Original breaks also. Never needed anything stronger.
Also important- never wash the car if breaks still hot...
