Johnathan gave me one of these as a loaner back some years ago. I don't recall if it was a diesel or gas burner, but it was the only time I have ever been in one. I think I got it up to 55 mph in the right lane after some minutes.

Having owned a 240D with 4-speed manual transmission, it always cracks me up when I see a trailer hitch on a 240D. With only one occupant the acceleration is already dangerously slow, near 20 seconds 0-60mph. Attaching a trailer would be the equivalent of throwing a boat anchor overboard.

I assume the primary function of a trailer hitch on a 240D would be to allow an attachment point for a larger vehicle (G-wagon or Unimog) to push it uphill.

About 12 years ago I bought a 240 4-speed for a friend who wanted a Armageddon vehicle. She drove it for about a month before I had to sell it on. Took years to repair our relationship. I imagine today that car invokes road rage if you aren’t courteous enough to yield to other traffic behind you.
