Today a lovely September Sunday, a head o head comparising country (brisk, very brisk) drive took place, E500 '95 vs E50 '96
unscientiffically i.e but anway a full blown drive to heat up the catalysts, all the way to the floor.

Think we are lucky to still have our drivers licence in the wallet, well no animals were hurt or cars as the roads we used were
almost empty, think the other drivers were at the Churtch maybe?

The E500 of Torsten will be locked in for the winter, my 500E 6.0 was not able to come, p.s pump leakage? So the E50 I have
been sorting out had to take the place instead.

I have been carrying this idea for some time, how well does the predecessor stand up to it's successor, wich is the E50 period.

We drove highways, winding countryroads and a couple of drag runs on an airstrip. Sorry, no time's taken and no pictures from that
event, we both need to invest in better camera/phone equipment.

A couple of drag races, the one who counted had an advantage, say it took 20m to level with the E500 as he was the one counting
thereafter the E50 left the building, how much, hard to tell but no question about it, the newer one is undoubtly a bit quicker.

The seat of our pants say the E50 is and should be a bit more refined but MB and AMG had no easy time doing so to better
the standards set by the Original they were not miles apart by any way, so similar in concept and different also
the E50 drives so fluently and effortlessly but then again after sitting in the 500E500 you have to ask yourself, is it really
that different? no to my mind it isn't.

When it comes to active driving both have a secure big margin feel, I mean if you really press on wich we did and sat in
both seats changing cars so we had immediate feedback. Conclution was,is the E50 no wonder does have the edge but
the E500 has nothing, Nothing, to be ashamed of, Valiantly he can stand beside his Brother in Arms.

Ps. I admit I'm a bit surpriced and I have the (E60) feel still in the back of my pants, Mean I remember it was!
More of that next year. Ah, the E500 does have my WOT comp. in it, so is there an odd 25hp difference?
Ps. ps. picture 3 the E500 about to be overtaken at c:a 240km/h (limit 120)

Yet another ps the titel you recon, *theme from the Guy who loved* [the 500E] ending... Baby Who's the Best.......You decide

Something wasn't right on the W210... it shifted from 1st to 2nd at 4000rpm instead of 6000rpm. The W210 would have been a bit quicker otherwise.

:pc1:
