I know its not E500 related, but I thought I'd ask anyway. The gasser in my 300CE gave up the ghost recently, and I'm interested in swapping in an OM617 5 cylinder turbodiesel. If anyone has a decent one that's up for grabs, feel free to give me a shout.....:-)

Well, Lot's of diesel swaps have been made on the forum called mersuforum (www.mersuforum.net) Unfortunately it's Finnish forum so I'd guess that it would be a bit challenging to read it but there are lots of well documented and pictured projects especially in "Turbot" zone. There are also english section and people are quite willing to help if you have something to ask. :star:

I'm not sure if there are exactly same projects like yours but swapping diesel engines to coupes or gasoline powered cars are quite common (like installing OM606 to 300CE and so on) Therefore I recommend to you to forget that OM617 and installing a bit newer OM603 or OM606. Choosing one of these power plants you can get also a bit more power and potential for those engines are enormous.

I think I'd recommend going with the newer-generation OM603 or OM606 rather than an older, cruder OM61X generation engine.

GSXR can comment more to this, however.

DO NOT, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES, INSTALL AN OM617 INTO A W124!! EVER!!! :oldman:

If you want a diesel C124, look into an OM603 turbo swap, or if economy is preferred, the OM602 turbo.

M119 would be the best choice, naturally...

Here is one swap http://www.mersuforum.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=153591 300CE->OM603 . You need to register to forum to see pictures. This is a short list which parts you have to take and change in your donor car or find
- change the engine, transmission, radiator, full exhaust and ignition lock has to be from the diesel car for switching off the engine
- fuel pump delete and install fuel feed lines
- relay for glow plugs. Easiest is to take whole engine wiring harness from the donor car
- no need to change rear axle but probably the rear axle ratio would be more better when swapping the rear axle. If you decide to change rear axle, take also instrument cluster from the donor car then the speed and rev's are displayed correctly

Sorry for bad translate :hammerhead:
