Nice trio of cars, Cossie. They all look to be in very good condition. One day I'll get around to adding the fender blinkers to my 92 (silver over black also). Thanks for the motivation. Do you use the limo for commercial purpose? It would be fun to experience the reactions of the passengers.

The second and last shots are my favorites. It's a great view of the car's lines from slightly above and behind. Shows really well from that angle.

Cheers,
Gerry

And, also in the first picture, what's that huge star that's stuck in the treeline behind the car?

@GSXR - didn't run the 500, I use a Mitsubishi Evo III for AutoX...

Sorry guys still have to learn how to take better photos

Hmm, I must be the only one who thinks these wheels should go on a VW Golf or Hondy Civic, then.

Seriously, the car itself looks very stylish, but I think the wheels look very shouty, very much opposite of the calm and stylish image it usually brings. To me, it stops the car from being the famous "wolf in sheep clothes" and (tries!) to turn it into a wolf.

Slight edit: I'm not saying I think it's ugly or something, I just wouldn't put them under *my* car.

The EVO's are just right for the car, not too mention they came as standard equipment on the later E500's. It's hard to keep the car in sleeper mode, when so many options are available...keeping good taste in mind. The HRE wheels on my car are prolly more shouty then the EVO's, but sure look good on the car...and isn't that what's is all about?

The EVOs are period correct for the car and if you want originality...oh and Rials , though were not intended for 036s, are just about the only ones you'll get away with in keeping with the original look. Sure, there are plenty that look good but for me the look should remain as it came out the factory. BUT each to their own taste!

Rial 18" 8-holes FTW !!!

:stormy:

IMHO -- from my admittedly narrow-minded "traditionalist" perspective ..... the three wheels (beyond stock) that are MOST appropriate/proper for the car are the Evo IIs, AMG Mono IIs (preferably staggered) and the Rial 18" 8-holes. Followed by the Brabus Mono (3?) which looks similar to the Rials, and the Carlsson wheels (1/16?).

Not to diss aftermarket wheels, as I like many of them too.

+3/4 Gerry. :-)
I feel the AMG mono II is 210 wheels. I've had them on my Limited, but traded them with a set of EVO II Diamond Cut Finish for my Limited ;-)

Cossie - #1 pads all around now and a half turn on the SLS buckle bolt, and you get the right ride hight. And even a bit better drive feeling.

Cheers

Indeed Mono IIs are W210 generation wheels, but they are very correct/classic for our cars too. [IMHO of course]. They are not out of place on the 036.

Agree, of course they are classic and that way they fit the 036 quite good. But compared to the other 3 types you listed, mmnnyes...it's a question of taste & preference I think. :-)

I also like the Brabus monoblock III a lot:

http://www.nast-sonderfahrzeuge.de/MB-Exotenforum/forum_entry.php?id=37191

They look normal and don't try to show off, but also exist in bigger sizes. That's important imo, because a car with too small wheels is like a person with a too small head, it's not proportional :P
They should have made the stock E500/500E wheels in larger sizes!

I like the Evo wheels but for some reason only on facelifted cars. On the other hand, I think there's other wheels which fit the 500E better than the E500 (I know it's strange, but for me they're like two different cars) like these here:

I don't find a better pic, sorry! I think those are the same: http://www.nast-sonderfahrzeuge.de/MB-Exotenforum/img/uploaded/image28515.jpg

And AMG Monoblocks are always nice anyway! But I don't know if they're good for the brakes? I know they made some rare 19" monoblocks for the S, CL and SL class and I've seen them fit on 124's aswell, shouldn't be too much work I think!

...don't forget the 18" BBS RSII and 17" OZ Racing Futuras. Both made during the car's production life to fit the 036.

Still on stock pads and haven't messed with the SLS adjustment - ... does the stance/height seem higher than normal?

Hello.

Your car looks great with the Evo II wheels. :-)
But a bit more down makes a more aggressive look and will give a tighter feeling, but that's of course an individual taste.

I prefer to have the front and rear in level, which counteracts the understeer on the 036. On my Limited I run with H&R just to get a bit firmer springs, but didn't want to lower as much as they do - additionally they lower too much at front IMO. So I went for #3 pads at front and #2 at rear, but will go for #1 at rear and adjust a bit on the SLS if necessary. I did this upgrade last summer along with the EVO II and 245/45 tires and 10mm spacers all around, and the handling came out perfect in my opinion.

Cheers

I'd agree that color looks good on 968 Club Sports and Nissan 370Z's but for the classic shape of the W124 with the 500 wheel arch flair it simply doesn't need to shout about it.
Wheels I like on this car. What I think doesn't work is the mirrors and the head light brows and grill - too much Fast and Furious - you want to keep 500's looking classic not "council house estate" look as they are an appreciating asset IMHO if well looked after.

Excellent group you have there and hope more 500's join it as there seems to be plenty in Q8 and hope the group goes from strength to strength.

Color is actually not bad in real life!
Here is some better pics from our last meeting: http://www.kwtdub.com/vb/showthread.php?t=15792
