A theory that could also perhaps help explain the performance of 400Eric's "Benzer" family.....A most intriguing theory!

The Silver Arrow brakes are now installed. I don't notice much difference from the stock brakes, but the slotted rotors and Brembo label sure look nice.
I've noticed some oil or power steering fluid around the PS pump. It looks like I know what my next project will be.

The big difference is at high speeds. Try to stop quick from 100mph (or more) with the original brakes and you'll likely have a serious pucker moment. The Silver Arrows are actually functional at 100mph+, and will also allow repeated hard stops without fading. Ask Vookster about that. He loves 'em, even at Willow Springs. Remember to let the new pads+rotors fully break in / bed properly before you get on the brakes hard! A few hundred miles of city driving will be adequate, then you can stomp on them. In the meantime, avoid hard stops. The Silver Arrow brakes are now installed. I don't notice much difference from the stock brakes, but the slotted rotors and Brembo label sure look nice.
That almost sounded vaguely insulting! I'll assume you were referring to Ken's short power steering hose.Hopefully it's just your short hose.

There are 5 common leak points on the power steering system. In order of probability:I've noticed some oil or power steering fluid around the PS pump. It looks like I know what my next project will be.

Hopefully it's just your short hose.

Maui....did you upgrade to steel braided brake lines? Did you do the rear brake upgrade as well?
That's because I looked it up on the EPC and ordered it via parts.com.I did not see the hose diameter in the the thread.
Replaced the distributor caps and rotors today. The ones I took out appeared to be in pretty good condition definitely worth holding on to. No signs of moisture or crud just a light greying of the of the rotor contact. The weather is too crappy to go for a test drive considering the car was just washed. Idled in the garage just fine.
Thanks for the advice Roma. I'm a pack rat when it comes to parts. I find it hard to toss anything even if the parts are worn out.![]()
My car was running fine I just got a wild hair and decided why not change them out. Call it preventative maintenance.

Thanks. I ordered everything from Autohausaz except for the hose. I can't remember the name of the place, but there is hose place over by Bright Upholstery that has every type of hose you can imagine. I can buy it by the foot there.
I've got to get used to all the metric stuff.
Just remembered, Portland Valve and Fitting.
<snip> I'm thinking it must have been the reservoir lid wasn't tight or something. <snip>
You are a braver man than I...I could not leave my 036 in the hands of the dealer period, even when I "need" to go to the dealer for parts, I never leave my key with anyone. The last time I was at the dealer, I went off on a tech for leaning against my car and told him that if I ever see him leaning on my car again, he's going to eat through a straw for the next month.I took my 1993 to the dealer this morning because they were offering a special deal on clay bar and detailing.
That looks like a c class

Thanks Gerry. There are a couple pics of the car on the first page of my owner thread which show the paint quality.

Your garage is awesome.First picture of my new 500E with two piece wheels and euro lights.
I could use a second lift in mine too... oh, and the car looks hot!!

Looks great Ken love the 040 color and you just made it come alive !
What other plans so you have for it ?
Congrats Maui! I missed it last week.
I think ink that we need to create an official Gerry Seal of Approval sticker. Instant .5 hp and $5 increase in value!
Hello Guest !
We wanted to let you know about a new resource that is now available to all 500Eboard members. This is a comprehensive database of all US-market (and soon to include Canadian-market) 500E and E500 models delivered for the 1992 through 1994 model years.
Data for this resource has been compiled continuously since mid-2003, and much of this information is seeing the light of day for the very first time ever. This new resource will allow you to utilize 500Eboard research and resources to track specific cars, their sale history, documented modifications, and other information that has surfaced over the years.
We are also providing analytics about the cars' production. This means that if you are curious as to how many "Signal Red" cars were produced for the US market with a black interior, specifically in Model Year 1993, you can now easily find this information. You can also find aggregated information -- for example, how many "Black Pearl" cars were imported into the US over the three-year span.
You can always find and enjoy this resource by clicking here (bookmark the site for easy reference!), or by going to the “500Eboard Registry and VIN Database” sub-forum below. You can also find a VIN Database button at the top of your screen, for easy access.
We hope you enjoy this resource. A LOT of blood, sweat and tears over nearly 23 years have gone into its creation.
Cheers,
500Eboard Management
