Is it 040 Black, or 009 Sapphire Black? Can't quite tell in the photos. I think it's 040 though, but if so the lower cladding was painted. Only the 009 had the lower cladding painted from the factory. Both 040 and the ubiquitous 199 came with Alto Gray lower cladding. Regardless, it looks sweet!

040 black,it was resprayed by the previous owner when he did the 94-95 face lift for the car. personally i hate the front lights so i ordered a pair from factory.since my friend in Europe said the 500E parts are available for cheaper from dealership i had him order them. is there a difference between the euro lights and usdm one's?i also plan on re dyeing the steering wheel to all black

The 500E/E500 headlights are different than all other W124 headlights. Make sure you are getting the correct headlight assemblies, but yes they are only available via Europe - can't get them via USA dealers. Do you know what part numbers your friend ordered?

The E500E headlights have a pencil-beam lens in front of the H3 bulb, while the standard 124's get a wide/flat fog beam in front of the H3 bulb. The E500E put the fogs in the bumper. If you get standard W124 lights, you'll end up with 4 fogs and 2 high beams, instead of the proper 2 fogs and 4 highbeams.
