Thanks for sharing. It's interesting how MB rolls these old-timers out of the closet regularly (they have done this with the 6.3 and 6.9 in the past) to help people feel good about their latest cars. **facepalm**

Thanks for posting, but, NO. Just no. Don't get me wong: I'd love to own a new E-Class. A brilliant car, looks great, fantastic interior, etc. Just not comparable to the W124. Different league.

That E63 looks *new*, which is what the current disposable market wants I suppose. But it does not look *good*. The body lines look like they were evolved simply for the purpose of evolving. Where are these design cues coming from? What's that huge ugly air dam for in front? Everything is rounded, wouldn't want to offend anyone with sharp angles!

To me, the E63 looks like a Japanese car...not good. The Hammer looks so much better...and meaner. If the E63 was behind me on the road, I wouldn't be able to get out of it's way without chuckling.

I think putting the SL grille on everything is a mistake - JMO.
And SEC grille ;)

GSXR was just recently saying about how MB's nomenclature (letters and numbers) has really gone off the rails in recent years ... there was once a time when ONLY MB's "sporty" coupes and roadsters carried the "SL" (sports) grille. Even the 124 coupe (which was a doppelganger for the C126 otherwise) didn't warrant a "sports" grille!!

Nowadays, you can get that same grille on pretty much any/every model that MB sells. Whether it's sporty or not.

Sad.....:miserable:

I guess I am the exception..I am VERY excited about the new E63 BiTurbo in the newly released "S" package as it will have 585hp and run to 60mp/h in 3.6s

I think that this E63 will set a new higher bar in the performance sectors from the interior to the Ceramic brakes to the performance.

No question these cars are technological & horsepower marvels. It's just the Japanese-car looks that I don't get excited about. If MB could come back to a distinctive design that has the presence and gravitas of its former cars (looking at the car, one knows it's unmistakably a Benz, and it projects authority, power, class, luxury and best-in-the-world engineering) I'd sell a few of my cars and get one.
