• Hi Guest !

    Welcome to the 500Eboard forum.

Since its founding in late 2008, 500Eboard has become the leading resource on the Internet for all things related to the Mercedes-Benz 500E and E500. In recent years, we have also expanded to include the 400E and E420 models, which are directly related to the 500E/E500.

We invite you to browse and take advantage of the information and resources here on the site. If you find helpful information, please register for full membership, and you'll find even more resources available. Feel free to ask questions, and make liberal use of the "Search" function to find answers.

We hope you will become an active contributor to the community!

    Sincerely,
    500Eboard Management

Question: Are any of you guys on Slack?

I use it at work. Personally, I have to use so many information sources as it is that I probably wouldn’t join a 500eboard Slack channel unless there was a compelling reason to do so.

I use it at work and for some industry certification groups. I don't care for it, as it's just noise after a while and/or information overload.

I wouldn't use it as it just adds another thing I have to check occasionally. I'm with Glen on this one.

And gsxr couldn't use it since I don't think it would run on Netscape Navigator anyway.

Netscape Navigator? Dave told me he’s an NCSA Mosaic guy.

But I DID catch this on my last visit to his shop.....

I may do a Slack channel to give me alerts when something is wrong with the system (for example if a server error happens).

Hmm. I could have swore I saw a picture of his desktop recently, and it looked like this:

MS_Bob.jpeg

(That's the ill-fated Microsoft "Bob" for those who might not recognize it.)

And I could see the value in a Slack channel for system alerts. But to set one up for the forum members would just sort of dilute the forum, I would think.

That was my original intent, but if I set up a channel, then others could subscribe if they wanted to. I didn't mean to say that I wanted to set up a Slack channel so folks could chit-chat. There are enough "chat board" and "mini-chat" add-ons that I could do that in about 5 minutes here on the forum. No thanks.

We use Slack at work and I get a message 15 minutes before every meeting starts, as I have it integrated with my calendar to give me alerts. Used to get a text message, but when the company switched to Slack then changed the SMS notification to Slack. Which is fine with me.

I use slack for work, for my other business, for some hobbies, and for local political election campaigns as well.
