Question following WOT LH Module Install

I finally installed the LH Module with WOT enrichment that I've had sitting on the shelf here for about a year. My car is a '94 E420. The LH Module part number is 014 545 15 32. The car has driven fine following the install and feels a bit stronger at the high end on WOT.

The past couple of mornings the temperature here has been around 20 degrees. The engine starts and the car drives fine. However I noticed that the fuel pump relays are clicking. They only start clicking when the engine is cold and I come to a stop with the car in gear. Once I start driving again the clicking stops. Once the engine warms up a bit (not even all the way to normal operating temperature) the clicking stops altogether.

The first morning the clicking got progressively louder the longer I was stopped. I put the car in neutral and it stopped. I put the car back in gear and started driving, no clicking. Came to a stop again in gear and the clicking began again, getting progressively louder. Clicking stopped as the engine warmed up.

This morning I drove the car and again the relays started clicking when I came to a stop. However the clicking remained constant and did not get louder. Again the issue stopped once the engine got a bit warmer.

Is this normal adaptation or do I have a bad module?

The car drives fine. No rough running, sputtering or hesitation.

You need to replace the electrolytic capacitors in the LH unit.

Start reading at about post 12. There may be other threads about this on the forum as well.

You have a bad module. Choices are to repair as Klink noted above, or replace. :(

This is why it's worth paying a bit more to buy from a reputable seller. My LH modules are more expensive than others on the market, but I test them before I ship, reset adaptation/codes, and guarantee they are not DOA (full refund or exchange). Another forum member recently installed a "WOT" LH module that wasn't defective, but it caused him all sorts of headaches because the adaptation wasn't reset (click here to read). (And no, the adaptation has nothing to do with the clicking relay - totally unrelated issues).

Thank you both for the info. I thought I did buy it from a reputable seller. I purchased it from Noble Truths over on benzworld. I believe he has a pretty good reputation and has sold a number of LH Modules.

Guess you'll find out when you try to get an exchange or refund! Did he advertise it as tested / guauranteed...?

:duck:

Indeed. To be honest I don't remember. I purchased it back in December of 2014. The module has been sitting on a shelf in my office. I wanted to get my E420 fully sorted before installing any performance related items other than suspension. Given the amount of time that has passed I would be very surprised if he's willing to offer any refund or exchange. No harm is asking, the worst he can say is no.

As expected the seller, Noble Truths, refused even a partial refund. The units he sells are not tested. He says he does offer a money back guarantee within a reasonable amount of time.

Looks like I'm back in the market for a working WOT LH Module.

Please let me know if you see any come up for sale.

This unit was pulled from a running car. Car was parted out due to front end collision which took out radiator. The car was still a runner and I drove this car around the block a few times just before parting it out.
