R129 300 SL 3.4 AMG

At the moment in Germany, there are two R129 300 SL-24 with an AMG M104 E 34 engine for sale.

Now i'm wondering, is this original AMG factory? To my knowledge, AMG only put this specific engine in the 124. Where it has 200 kW(272 PS) and 335 Nm. Only the A124 convertible has 185 kW(252 PS) and 315 Nm.

With the 500SL available, it doesn't make any sense to me to swap in a 3.4 or even a 3.6, UNLESS the car originally had the Getrag 5-speed manual transmission.

it WAS an official model, but not for all markets.

I think Italy was one, due to taxes..

An SL 36 AMG has this engine. Of course.

In fact, it's the actual engine of a R129 SL 36 AMG. Pictures i received directly from the austrian owner.

I had a 5 speed manual R129 with the regular M104. The engine is a delight with the manual gearbox with its redline at 7000rpm.

That's the one you sold not long ago? I've had a chance to purchase one that had lots of needs, but already had a "needy" car, so had to pass it up (now wish I didn't, could have found a place to park it somewhere until I've got the time)...

Yep, the body was in bad shape but engine was great. I still have the automatic car that I was planning to use as a donor which I will dismantle soon.
