Re: Genuine MB wheel bearing grease 150 gram tubes

I guess I missed the drama of Eric's departure.
I don't know if folks here knew, and I forgot to mention it a while back, but our (former, and controversial in some circles) member @400Eric, who left the forum about 10-11 years ago, had passed on in the last 1-2 years. I heard this courtesy of @J-Sauce. @400Eric was quite a colorful character, and was a 124 / .034 drag-racing enthusiast, and dead bound and determined that he could easily make a 400E faster than a stock 500E.

400Eric was preceded in his passing by our departed forum friend "Clark Vader". Both were "one of a kind" 'characters' who longtime forum members remember well and occasionally....even fondly.

I didn't know Clarkz71 had passed. No wonder he's not around any more. Through reading his many posts over the years, I could tell he was both knowledgeable and colorful. With his passing, some tribal knowledge has disappeared.

Clark was terminally ill, and had a downhill slope lasting several years. He was off the forum for probably a couple or three years before he passed on. In the 2016-2017 time frame he sold off a lot of his tools and some small parts he had, and I bought a lot of it from him. It was the time span when I was getting divorced, and then later on for a bit after I moved to Texas in late 2017, so I remember it well. During that dark period for me, it was always a pleasure and a bright spot to have Clark's well-packed Priority Mail boxes of parts and tools arrive at my place. He was very happy to see his tools go to a good home, and I have used many of them.

He truly did enjoy this forum, and he was a big 124 & V-8 enthusiast. In earlier years, he was a big motorcycle enthusiast, too. And of course, a former MB technician, who had to stop working because he became disabled. I don't know exactly when he passed on, but I would say in the 2018 or 2019 time frame?

It's sad news. Last weekend, I met up with a member of the MBZ.org forum which I joined when I bought my first vintage Mercedes Benz, a 280SEL 4.5 in 2003. It was just a few years after moving to the US, and I wasn't even 30 at the time.

A lot of people who helped me over the years are no longer around. It's good to think about them.

I knew Clark had passed but wasn’t aware he had been sick for a long time leading up to it. I wondered why he was selling off his parts and tools years ago. Sorry to hear about 400Eric. Life is so short.

I thought about what would happen to my spare parts and tools if I died. It would be a shame to have them go to a non-forum member so I told my brother about this website and gave him my password. I guess I’ll need to fill him in on the two-factor sign-in process too. At this point if a person can’t do their own work on these cars it would be prohibitively expensive to maintain them and since none of my family work on cars I’m thinking they would probably be sold off separately from my parts and tools.
