Hello,

I am new to this forum but have been following the interesting threads. I have purchased a 1994 e500 locally in NY and want to replace the factory grill with the s600 grill. For those that have done this facelift can you tell me the year of the S600 which the grill is a direct fit and part number if known.

Thanks
Ben

Welcome to the forum, Ben!

This topic has been discussed several times in the past, if you search the forum you'll find several threads. The OE grille is expensive, even if you buy the insert+strips separately. Or you can get aftermarket copies off eBay for probably under $100. Here's one thread...

Thank you, its very much appreciated. I have a few plans in place for my 94 i.e. Black Series big brake kit front and rear to get started.

Welcome.

Unless you've started another thread, please keep us informed of your progress. I, for one, come here for such great things.

Sounds cool! Just be careful with the brake upgrades... some of the newer 6/8-piston brakes may not play nicely with the master cylinder on the 124, resulting in long pedal travel and poor pedal feel. Depends if you just want the brakes to look cool, or actually stop the car. Best bang for the buck upgrade is the "Silver Arrow" setup, which may not look as cool, but has been proven to work wonderfully on the E500E. As a bonus, no mods are needed for installation on an E500 - no cutting, no grinding, no spacers, even uses stock hoses. Lots of info on the forum about brake upgrades if you search.

Thank you for the advice. I have a very good friend who is a master Mercedes tech, been with Mercedes for over 25 years. He also has a E500 which he has the full Blackseries brake and rotor package. He was the guy that got me hooked on looking for a 94. His car stopping power is great with little fade during extended breaking and the eye candy through his SLR rims makes his car look sick. He has assured me that kit is a direct bolt up. He will be doing the install so I am in good hands.

Regards,
Ben
