Hi, has anyone replaced the horizontal polished aluminum mouldings on their 94/95 grilles? If so what is the best way to trim 4 of the pieces to size? The bottom 4 are shorter as the grille tapers. Thx.
I don't remember having to trim those moldings --- but then again I replaced them on a 93 which has slightly different grilled. Even then, are you sure that the excess length horizontal trim moldings don't get hidden by the "radiator shell" (or hood, in the '94/'95 case)?
As you can see not only does the old inner grille show the mouldings sized to fit, the outer edges are tapered to enable the grille to fit flush again the outer chrome frame. I think I might try my Dremel tool to cut but want to make sure I make a clean square cut. All thoughts are welcome.
I went the hack saw with new blade route. Used a 32 teeth/inch type blade and did a practice cut on an old piece. It was pretty drama free. The aluminum is so soft that a file works well on the cut end to shape the bevel so each piece butts up against the vertical moulding tightly.
