Shifter cover sticker & knob

Hi guys, I’m asking for your advice. My shift gear cover has some kind of optional housing. Is there any chance to get this piece of trim new?
Or if not, does anyone please have the part number of the clean black shifter housing or one with the switch E/S option for sale?

Btw, what do you think about my shift knob?
Should this ever been some factory optional package or just aftermarket sourced later.

If you mean the wood trim on the gear cover, it's just a 3M stick on plate. They were never an original MB part, only aftermarket. You can still probably find one on Ebay. And if you want to go back to stock, peel it off. But if it's been there for many years, it may damage the finish of the black plastic underneath, but that is a generic W124 part, so no worries finding a good used one.

The gear lever is not stock either. It should be a leather one. But these wood levers were really popular back in the day as an aftermarket accessory.

Yes the wood trim on the gear cover. I had it opened and it looks like it was some kind of set since the black plastic shift cover has the raised edges around the gear knob route.
Usual wood trim stickers I’ve seen all over the internet has edges right on the edge of the gear shift route.

Yes true, but the plastic edges are the base on which the wood veneer is glued to. It is obvious to me that there is an extra layer of material, the S/E switch is normally level with the plastic base:

The stickers are available on eBay, in English, German and perhaps other languages. If you need a link to them, let me know. You can search for them.

With the black plastic surround on the shift gate it can be very well a original part from the 600SL.
Part no. A1296806936
Probably also available from the 600SE/L/C

However the obvious difference in bleaching leaves 2 questions open:
- the shifter gate and lever was installed used/wood trim in cetmer console was replaced
- shifter gate and leaver are aftermarket with difference in UV stability causing different level aging.

Ah yes of course, I didn't think about trim from other models.

The idea about the 600SL could be true since I bought the car with a 129 beige wood sportline steering wheel, so the previous owner had probably some 600SL donor. But to be honest I like the stock black plastic with the regular leather shift knob. So I'm starting to search for parts.
