Smog pump connector tip?

How do you unplug the smog plug electrical connector? It lives under the passenger headlight, but I cannot get my hands to feel it’s full extent. Based on the pictures I’ve seen removing the headlight won’t do anything.
 
Removing the headlamp will give you access to the plug. The Smog Pump wire harness is routed and secured at the factory so once it has been un-clipped like this it should be more readily accessible in the future without removing the headlamp. Just don't zip tie it back all the way in.
 
Joe is correct. After you extract it from the restraints, DO NOT clip it back in the original position. It can be tucked away elsewhere for easy access in the future. I don't know why MB did this at the factory.

Thanks for the quick response - was trying to pull the smog pump last night so I could use the press at my place of work on the bearing but got stuck here. Managed to get it out this AM and make it to the office by 9AM :)

This is a chore though. I'm not sure why MB chose to inline it there and not in a more open area; perhaps they wanted to shield it from water/dust, as well as keep the pigtail length common across the various platforms/models that this pump was used on. There was a bit of man handling involved in getting the headlight and the plastic 'bucket' (which was gross and had a clogged drain, so will repair) that sits behind it and covers the connector out, which was precarious given the old brittle plastic and NLA parts. No harm no foul, but I'd advise someone following me in this to just cut the circuit and then solder back together with some glue lined heat shrink to prevent water ingress. Faster and just as robust.

Also replacing the smog pump and other nearby hoses while I'm in there.

Sorry about that, saw a different post in that thread on this but not that particular one with the photos in my late night looking.
New bearing installed. I'm surprised how much axial movement there is of the pulley on the pump, but this is how the clutch engages/disengages.
 
IIRC, the pulley shouldn't move... the clutch moves and the pulley remains in place?
