Source for flexible AC power cables

The soft and pliable rubber power cables on electrical tools & equipment as well as extension cords are by todays standard replaced with some kind of plastic materials making them pretty annoying to use, especially at lower temps. I consider replacing the cables on most of my electrical tools and some of the kitchen equipment as well.

Anyone here having a lead to sources for proper rubber/silicon cables?

@500AMM,

Arnt, I have a similar problem with my 1/2” air hose I bought a few years back. It has convenient small OS diameter, about 75’ long so it will go from my garage all the way across my front yard and is quite durable I wind it up on the floor and store it under a cabinet. Only problem is that it has a mind of its own that it when winding it up and won’t lay flat. I usually have to step on it and hold it down. It kinda like a wrestling match.:jono:

I hoard old vacuum cleaner cords. They are usually very small diameter, very flexible, and manufactured to carry higher amperage. They can also be had for free as most folks give the old units away or junk them. Made with proper rubber to last and recoil.

Yes, the same issue with compressed air hoses and even water hoses. They are reinforced plastic based material which doesn't take much twisting but behave like a spiral spring.

That was a good idea! :thumbsup2:

At least here in Norway, I think it was a change in the rules at some point for compressed air hoses due to aging/decayed rubber and risk for rupture. Maybe the same applies for AC power cables. The supply chain had to find alternatives which I'm sure was dominated by a cost effective solution. However, rubber compound air hoses are still available, but at a much higher price.
