steering gear box

Hi all, I'm looking for advice. My steering gear box is broken. Possibly broken too much to be refurbished.
Therefore I'm looking for advice. The Ori number is A1244606801. It is not possible to get one like this new, here in Poland and probably elswhere too.
Will any other fit and work as good as the ori? Perhaps somebody here have one (used/new) for sale?

All years of 034/036 steering gearboxes are interchangeable. There are plenty available in USA, and cheap, because these are VERY rare failures. Very strange that yours failed. Any 400E/E420, or E500E, would be a good donor.

thanks, that could be an ultimate option, as one local company already failed to fix it (I mean they claim to fix it, but few days after I took a car from garage its leaking again). I'm conisdering to give one more chance to another people localy (in Poland) to work it out.

Thanks, well for that reason I made this post. In EU you can find at all or hardly. The only one (rebuild) I found in Germany, the asking price is 2000 bucs. I find it damm expensive, thus if you could advice some sounrces in US, I would consider. I will give one more chance locally to rebuilt mine, but to be honest I'm loosing my faith...

don't know exactly where,pretty much all bottom part. Sorry, I'm not mechanic. I found a new place for refurbishment, so will try to deliver the box this week. Hopefully this time succesfull. This car is awasome and with such a low millage (about 72000 km on clock) it drives like new. I want to make it perfect.

If the leak is only from the lower section of the box, that can be repaired without removing the entire steering box from the car. Details at the thread below:

The power steering system is the source of many fluid leaks on the 500E/E500 (and its baby brother, the 400E/E420). Along with the three rubber hoses for the fluid lines to & from the pump, the gearbox itself can also leak. If there is visible wetness at the gearbox, first clean it off with carb cleaner or other degreaser so everything is completely dry. Then drive the car for a while and monitor the area. If fluid is present at the shaft seal or shaft cover, and it is not dripping down from higher up, it is almost certain the leak is from the shaft seal and/or cover O-rings...
