Was driving on the A61 from Koln to Stuttgart yesterday, cruising at 170kmh in the fast lane on a derestricted section when this black mercedes came up real quick and close behind me. Couldn't make out from my mirror what it was but I could see a big 3 pointed star on the grill, which could possibly be a CLC/SLK/SL.

Now, do I move over and let him thru? Well, if do I'm only gonna have to brake as there's quite a bit of traffic on the inside lane and I hate doing that. So I punched it , hit redline and was now pushing at 220kmh. But shit, he's still up right my ass - so close I can barely see his headlights. Traffic on the inside lane has cleared and i'm gonna have to move over. I moved over to the right at 230kmh and I'm now thinking, "this better not be a diesel!". Suddenly hear I him downshift that 7G Tronic box, and with that throaty AMG noise it blew pass me.. Yep, darn CLS AMG 63! As it passed me I quickly glanced and saw a lady passenger casually putting her make up on,, cheeky I thought.

Well, I tried, but I guess I can be forgiven considering what I was up against, right guys??

Well, in theory, that car should be limited to 250km/h, the 500E can reach 260km/h... :-P

You should have been good at least up to 250+ KM/hr indicated on the speedo ... interesting. Yes in theory all of the new MBs are speed limited to 250 km/hr (as are BMWs and Audis) but it's a fairly trivial matter to "decommission" the V-max limitation. I know Carlsson does this routinely ... ;-)

Good work though, 230 KM/hr is not exactly dawdling along. It takes some serious concentration to drive at that speed :-)

Cheers,
Gerry

Me a few years ago on the A9 between Munich/Garching and Allershausen, in a rental R171 SLK....

Yeah, but he was against a driver with heightened driving skills...applying make up at those speeds is an art form, to say the least. Maybe it was Ms. V-Max in a new ride? Anywho, you can't stop a woman in a hurry.

Yes, there is no question that the woman driving that CLS, was a woman of many talents....

Good story! Were you driving your S350 or E500?

Don't mess with new AMG cars on the highway!

Here is a pic I took a few years ago. Damn speed limiter :(

E500! I had the a/c on and U2 blaring..

Tried to stay close but he came off the next exit. Yes, as a stock set up 250kmh would have been his max and I reckon he was maxed already when he passed me at 230.

Oh and today, sitting in traffic in Munich, this guy stood in front my car looking at the front and side wheel arches gave me a big smile and 2 thumbs up! This I would never get from the S/class - not in a million years, too common!

Wait, I made a mistake - the lady was a passenger and not the driver. Nevertheless, the driver had to keep the car stable to allow the lady to apply her makeup without trouble.

Yep, I love those moments :smiley_emoticons_mt.

Have you had people chase you down and ask to buy your car? Those are my second favorite moments.
