being of darker appearance and less shine, is there a different paid code for the lower cladding/bumpers of our cars, 94 onwards?? mine is brilliant silver (744) main body. would like to touch up minor scuffs and chips for the time being. spring/summer it'll go in the body shop for a proper paint job.

Bing.

Most paint colors have a different color code for the bumpers and side moulding. See attached PDF file from the EPC. Your 744 paint has Atlas Gray trim, code 7181.

How does one know their cars paint code......is it in the VIN or somewhere on a sticker?
Andy,

It will be on the EPC datacard for your VIN, and also on the metal tag near the hood latch. Look at the third post in this thread, second photo... see the stamped metal tag? That car has paint code 009 (Sapphire Black), the numbers are in the lower/left side.

Here are a few common 124.036 paint colors:

009 - Sapphire Black metallic
040 - Black (non metallic)
199 - Pearl black metallic
702 - Smoke Silver
744 - Brilliant Silver
