Upgrade to electric left side mirror

Hi.

I am going to upgrade to electrical left side mirror on my '92. I have collected a complete set of mirrors, wiring and switch from a '94 E220T.

I imagine this upgrade is a fairly easy job. I have not checked the wiring compatibility, which I assume doesn't fit directly, so some adaption have to be done. (I can snap some pics of the items and add later on.)

But I have a minor question about the function on the switch; Does the left/right selection on the switch only direct the adjustment signal/power? If so, it means that the up-down-in-out adjustment signals given from the switch is the same for each side?

Very nice, planning to do this aswell... Does the new 2-side switch fit into your mid-console's hole ?
Any pictures and a short sort of "guide" for us? :-)

The switch fits the hole no problem. The bigger hassle is running the wires - you need to remove the front seats, console, and main carpet. Then route the wiring into the factory wire trays. It's a LOT of work. I removed the harness from a car being parted out and it was much more effort than I expected. I still haven't retrofitted the wiring into the recipient car... waiting for an excuse to pull the interior first!

:banana2:

Dave, try installing some N2O, giving your significant other a milkshake, and taking her along for the test drive. You should see the pictures of my carpet I took when I pulled the passenger seat after that fiasco.

Hi Christian.

I had to postpone this job due to the tough winter here in Norway. The winter came early and we've got extreme coldness up here. I did neither get the workshop place I was promised to rent, got that message just when the winter started! :x Better luck next year. I'll update the thread when I start the job, but it will not happen until summer is here.

PS. It's really nice to see a German member here at 500Espot. :cheers1:

You're right, Dave. I took out everything from a chrashed car and it was quite much to dismount on the interior. I will probably wait to take on the job until I have everything collected for the memory seats conversion. That wiring do more or less follow the same rout under the carpets. But for the time being - it is winter here....brrrrr... :|
