WANTED W124 AMG Airbox

Looking for either an entire w124 AMG Airbox or for the "AMG" lettering that goes over the "Mercedes Benz lettering on the standard 500 E airbox. DRZECARS used to sell a reproduction of the lettering but doesn't anymore, due to the war in Ukraine.

Interested in anything from aftermarket strips to a full airbox. Not looking for a 210 AMG airbox, W124 only

I assume you know the only difference is the logo stuck on top, there is no functional difference... same internal volume, etc etc.

:klink:

What do you have? The aftermarket strips/badges or an entire, original airbox? You can PM me your asking price for what you have

I did a cursory search, using all of my sources. No emblems or airbox's right now available.
Thank you, I appreciate it. I'm hoping that folks can keep their eyes and ears open if they come across one of those and let me know. I'm in no big rush, but would like to close it out before the engine goes into the car sometime at the end of 2023/beginning of 2024

Does anyone have the specs for the original? Curious if its just an overlay on top of the ‘MERCEDES-BENZ’ of the standard air box, or if its ‘moar specialz’.

My understanding is that it is just an overlay. I would love to get this 3D printed by some of the aerospace interior folks up here, but don’t have a sample based on which such a print could be generated 😕

The 500eboard to the rescue, yet again. After my original "wanted" post, a member approached me with an original AMG airbox he was willing to sell. Very happy it all worked out and that I can stash that away until the new engine goes in. Also very happy that I didn't have to trade my current engine for it @kegmankipp :stickpoke: :)

Thanks to Gerry and all the other great folks who make this forum happen - very much appreciated!

Does anyone know if I can unscrew the black star on the later style airboxes and exchange it with the earlier style silver star?

I think I read somewhere that the black star isn't attached with a screw, but for the life of me can't remember where I read that.

The early airbox's you can remove the star, but the 93+ box you can not. When I decided to paint my airbox, I sourced a 92 airbox specifically so I could have a easier time painting the star. In hindsight, painting the Mercedes letters were extremely time consuming, I probably could of just masked off the black start and painted it that way.

Recently picked one up with silver star in great overall condition.

I found the separated AMG strip piece for sale recently which I wanted to buy to reproduce but it went for an unreasonable amount that made no sense to pay.

Out of curiosity I just had a look at my airboxes; prefacelift AMG with silver star and a standard one with black star.
I couldn't see any screws holding the silver star, but 6 black knobs approx 5 mm long inside which are part of the airbox materiel. My guess is that those knobs are hollow and the star has 6 mating tabs and glued on. How did you get it off, Rik?

If I remember correctly, it just pops off. I used a small plastic pry tool to gentle lift it off. There are no screws.
