Does anyone have any definitive information on TRW arms Vs Genuine Vs... say... Febi ? Opinions seem to range from absolute junk to OEM. A broad range if ever there was one! I believe that TRW is part of the ZF group, which includes Lemforder and Sachs.

TRWs, at least those for my 1993 400E are not the same as OE. Here is a video by our Chief Engineer @gsxr:

I've had TRW control arms on for 5 years and about 25k mi without any issues: boots intact, everything's firm/no play. Car aligns perfectly at MB dealer every time

I think FCP lists TRW is made in Spain. Don't know about Febi

Peter, what year/model do you need LCA's for? At the moment, OE is the only safe way to go...

Ohhhhh. Yep, you need the late-style LCA with non-replaceable ball joints. OE MB is the only option, and the right side standard LCA just went NLA, unless you can find one sitting on a shelf somewhere. Your primary options are:

1) Rebuild your existing LCA's with new bushings and new ball joint boot, IF the ball joint has zero play, and did not have water/dirt enter the joint.

2) Buy new OE MB Sportline late LCA's, which are still available.

3) If your old LCA's are not repairable, you could try to find used ones in better shape, and rebuild those.

As mentioned in the video description, the 'TRW' units appear to be repackaged Febi/no-name, and they DO NOT have the TRW ball joint like OE.

Does anyone know what is the difference of these original front lower control arms?
