Cheers all!

I know that few of you have W202 cars here... As preventative maintenance, I would highly recommend to clean the drain under the cowl/below the windshield, or it may flood!!!

My is 1998 C280, but as "pedestrian" models, I would not be afraid to say it is probably the nicest one could find. I've had it most of it's life, and while driven daily, mostly garage kept, and well maintained. 23 years however, finally cough up with it.

Driving home on Thur, they were calling for some heavy storms

And boy did it rain... I stopped by my parents house to drop some groceries, and it poured like crazy for few hours. Next morning, on the way to work, I though the car smelled weird, and that is because about 2 gallons of water saturating passenger side flooring. Luckily, no electrical components were damaged.

So now this is the state:

So if you own W202, I would highly recommend, as preventative measure, clean that well under the cowl/windshield, its only a few screws and plastic clips to disconnect, about 15 min all in all, and could have save me some serious headaches! The drain plug is on the passenger side, small, rubber plug with the flap. If clogs up, in a very heavy rain, that entire tray under the plastic mesh fills with water running down the windshield, and food over thou the opening for the blower motor, under the dash and onto the cabin floor...

On the positive note, all the carpets are now shampooed really well (just need to "shave" the perimeter wool stitching a little after the heavy brushing).

All back together, all dried up... 90F+ for few days, box fan, shop vac, shampoo... Not bad for 145K mile pedestrian 23 years old C280
