My 92 Bornite 500E came with a S600/SL600 style wood/Leather steering wheel in the standard Non-Sport shape.
Besides the very nice look and feel of the wood, I've come to appreciate the standard format wheel over the Sport wheel.
So, the leather on the steering wheel of my other 92/500E is badly cracked and needs to be replaced.
Rather than locating a replacement Sport wheel, or getting this one recovered, I'd rather replace it with the same type wheel that is in the Bornite 500.
So, after reading a couple of days ago about the steering wheels having different P/N airbags, I want to make sure I buy a wood/leather steering wheel with the correct parts to convert it to a 1992 E500 steering column.
For instance, see the steering wheel in this link;
https://www.ebay.com/itm/Mercedes-R129-W140-600-Leather-WOOD-BLACK-Steering-GENUINE-1-Wheel-No-air-bag/292979665296?ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT&_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649
What parts would I need to buy to get this working on my 92 500E? I assume a horn ring and an airbag.
Would the horn ring on the current factory Sport wheel fit the one in the eBay auction?
Anyone know what part numbers for the horn ring and airbag are, if I decided to buy that wheel?
Alternately, does anyone have a Wood/Leather steering wheel like this for sale, ready to bolt on, or needing the ring or airbag? I'd rather buy off the forum members before turning to eBay.
I looked for steering wheel tutorials everywhere, and there isn't much published, although I'd bet there are some in this site who are experts at it.
I new "How To swap in different type steering wheels" with part numbers would be nice.
Thanks...O
edit, adding a picture of the current sport wheel I want to replace, I guess there were two styles in 92
