• Hi Guest !

    Welcome to the 500Eboard forum.

Since its founding in late 2008, 500Eboard has become the leading resource on the Internet for all things related to the Mercedes-Benz 500E and E500. In recent years, we have also expanded to include the 400E and E420 models, which are directly related to the 500E/E500.

We invite you to browse and take advantage of the information and resources here on the site. If you find helpful information, please register for full membership, and you'll find even more resources available. Feel free to ask questions, and make liberal use of the "Search" function to find answers.

Hi GVZ,

I am getting a Friend request from a forum member, what does that mean ??

Regards

The site has the ability to make "friends" (as does any vBulletin based site). You can see peoples' friends in their profile, if they have any. Otherwise the only other type of "friend" would be via Facebook, but that is 100% different and only according to Facebook rules, and has nothing to do with this site.

But if you look on your own (or anybody else's) profile you can see their "friends" listed and this is a capability of vBulletin.

Ok, but what does it do? or is it just cosmetic like avatars and locations?

excuse my lack of info on this.

Cosmetic, I guess. I don't think many people use it....

We're ALL friends here, driven by our common love of things 036 / 124-119 / 126-117/119 etc.

Gerry, how can I disable this feature? I don't want to respond to "friend" requests but they hang around in notifications folder.

It is either disabled for the entire site, or enabled. I just disabled it -- I don't think anyone is really going to miss the "feature." I agree, it can be annoying.

My kids laugh at me because "I don't have any friends" on Facebook.
I've never even been on Facebook.
You're not missing anything. I was a member of Facebook since early 2007, and I shut down my Facebook account on January 2, 2013.

I haven't missed Facebook for a single minute -- not a SINGLE MINUTE -- all year.

Trust me, the time you would be wasting on Facebook, is far better wasted in other time-wasting pursuits. This site also had a Facebook page, and I shut that down as well.

Add me to the list of never been on facebook people. It will eventually die off as the sheeple who purchased this overvalued stock realize that broke teenagers don't have any money to spend on whatever they are trying to advertise.

Yeah, no, the thing is the human race has gotten quite comfortable with having a place and means where one can broadcast their voice at will and that kind of addiction might not have a cure.

Each forum/board has a reason for being arround...the only thing that separates this social gathering is a specific and commonly shared interest.
