What is the proper way to adjust the throttle cable/ trans linkage on these cars?

I have a strong suspicion that my cold start trans and run issues are at the least partially due to the shop not adjusting the linkages right after the cable install.
Is these something I can check here?
Biggest pressing issue is the 1/2 shift delay and funky shift. just played with the main cable adjustment as it was very tight and backed it down a couple turns. Made a immediate and positive difference so---.

Thanks buddy that hit the spot on the weird trans shifting issue. Miss-adjusted linkage that was causing the gear hold and weird shifts.
Still have the low idle and sluggish condition cold but at least now the car is drivable. Without your help here buddy it was in danger of smoking a trans!!
Just drove her a few miles and trans is shifting as it should again. Dang these cars are touchy on this stuff though. I would have never dreamed that small a miss adjustment of the linkage would screw things up like it did just wow!!

Yup normal guy was out that day owner actually did it so---. Cable adjuster was GONE had family issues that demanded it get done ASAP and could not get a break to get to it. SUCKS not having a garage the way I am currently working as by the time I normally get home it's cold as crap or raining + dark.
One perk however working in a Pawn Shop is the TOOLS I have the ability to snag for a song at times!! Just wish I had a nice garage to USE them in!!!
