What is this part in the trunk?

Can anyone tell me what this rectangular carpeting looking piece is on the left side of this photo? Mine has been missing for years, I think due to the dynamat installation years ago? Is this the only piece in the trunk like this? Is there a part number of best recommendation for replacing mine, which is missing? Thanks for any help.

Yes, that is just an insulating pad, no other function than padding and dampening.

As for other pieces:
  • The sides of the trunk have the pre-molded plastic pieces (right part number 124 690 58 30 and left part number 124 690 49 30; both NLA)
  • There is a felt-covered piece that fits vertically on the rear of the gas tank (part number 124 694 19 25 A76; seemingly available from MB)
  • There is a rectangular, vertical piece (part number 124 682 01 41; available from MB) that fits on the left side of the trunk interior
  • There is a damping piece (part number 124 682 06 41; available from MB) that fits between the trunk floor and the fuel tank

The part number for the piece you are asking about is 124 680 52 25.

Though it shows to be available from the normal Revolution Parts discounters for ~$25.50, MB Classic Parts says it is no longer available.

The good thing is that it can be substituted/replaced by any competent interior shop.

Absolutely zero hits on the internet for that part/part number, except OEM parts dealers who I assume have not updated their systems to show NLA status, but will try on Monday to contact a couple.

My ‘92 400 parts car has a nice one of these (and all the other trunk stuff) still in place, seemingly removable undamaged with care and patience.

Let me know if this turns out to be your best bet; I’m willing to extricate and send when I’ve got the time.

@northNH, you are such a gracious gentleman....

That is more than kind, northNH. I would be quite interested, as I have yet to have any fortune on the internet. I'll keep looking on Monday when Revolution parts suppliers showing it available are open, and I can check properly. If I fail, I'll let you know. Very much appreciated.

Is such flattering an accolade truly warranted for what seems like such a small friendly gesture?
For a $25-when-new relatively insignificant used piece, even if NLA?
After all, we’re not talking about removing a FGS VB from a car sunk up to it’s wheels in mud...
