For me it is The Notes from the logbook of the Worlds Best Car by Allan Rosenberg (Automobile Magazine 3/1994). Unfortunately I have got this one only as text and I few months age I have wiritten very polite email to Allan Rosenberg and asked him about some pictures from this article because he is quite famous photographer http://allanrosenberg.com/ but the result was no answer
I think that the 997 Turbo is quite a satisfaction for him, because the new 4door Porsche from VW Nutzfahrzeuge Hannover with the undercarriage final assembly from Leipzig ist really not a competition for his (and ours) beloved Zuffenhausen/Sindelfingen .036
Back around 1992, a coworker showed me some magazine article about the new 500E (must have been the Like A Drug article). After the usual lustful daydreaming of myself full-tilt behind the steering wheel, I saw the limited availability and price tag & realized that this dream car would be just that…a dream. The dream quickly faded from memory until it was rekindled by Classic Motorsports March 2008 issue’s Best Budget Benz Buys article. http://classicmotorsports.net/issues/131/
This one page article includes a chart of the familiar specs found in most other 500E articles, however each of the seven succinct paragraphs contained statements that I found utmost appealing…especially the one that sold me (and had me LMAO for some strange reason), “It’s the kind of car that Michael Schumacher might take out for a family picnic.”
The rest is history. I found the car that I dreamed myself driving in, and I’m driving it now. As the article says, “…one of the greatest sports sedans ever built.” Nothing better than making dreams come true.
Please enjoy the attached article & best wishes to all
