So Greg (8899) and I are just about to wrap up our first "How To" on switching the incandescent lights on the instrument cluster over to LED. We took about three hours on Friday to do this. Lots of lessons learned.
There are two pieces remaining:
The issue we are having with #2 is we cannot get the light to come on. We have switched the polarity of the LED a few times as well as checked to ensure good contact but we are still getting no illumination. The only wire we have connected when we are doing this is the large circular one.
What we are thinking now is there is (1) another connection on the back of the cluster which either powers this bulb or (2) there is a dependency such as a circuit not being closed in two places which is preventing illumination.
Any thoughts?
Robert
There are two pieces remaining:
- Soldering in a white LED on the outside temperature display to replace the one which gives off a yellow hue
- Replacing the incandescent for the indicating wheel slip on the speedometer
