Wheels: Painting VS Powder Coating

I have a set 2 pc wheels that are in need of refurb. Do you folks recommend Respraying or powder coating for the best finishing/long lasting durability

I had a set of stock 15" w124 wheels powdercoated with a metallic powder finish that wore like iron. It was warranted through snow, salt, etc. by the applicator. After about 8 years of year-round use, the wheels still looked shiny and new and brake dust washed off relatively easily.

The finish was done by Wheel Collision Center near Allentown, PA. The finish I had is called hyper black, I believe www.wheelcollision.com They are really a class outfit and do top-notch work. I have since shipped them a few sets of wheels from Baltimore to refinish and been very happy with the work.

I can vouch for Wheel Collision Center in Bath, PA as doing great work. I had them refinish a set of rare 15" "Bundt" wheels for my 450SEL 6.9 many years ago and they did a great job. Spendy as hell and shipping wasn't cheap, but the end product was remarkable. They are a vendor you can trust.

Cheers,
Gerry
