Moderator update: Skip to post #27 below for current info on Covercraft shades as of summer 2024. The OE MB shade is NLA.

Hi, anybody know the part number for the MB sunshade for the front windshield? I had one for my w201, but not for my 400E. So I bought a couple from Walmart and none are a perfect fit. I found something on the dealer's site for the newel models for $80.

Any part number for the original one? Any good alternatives? I don't have a garage, so I need it, especially in SC. In CA, at least I had a roof for a garage. Here everything seems open-top garages and no trees nearby. :timeout:

OE sunshade is shown below. P/N Q6670002, currently $80 MSRP. (Price update 2014: $83 MSRP)

It is a rebranded Covercraft UVS100, which you can get from Amazon for under $50 delivered. I get the Covercraft ones now that the MB price has gotten refreakindiculous. Part number is either UV10515SV, UV10542SV, or UV10579SV for silver color... their catalog shows different part numbers for different years, which is odd. If you want custom colors, you'll need to order from somewhere else besides Amazon.

UPDATE Nov-2014: Amazon now offers different colors.

Find the part number at the Covercraft website, then search Amazon for that part number:

Bam! Not even sunshades can escape from gsxr. Thank you sir, I was actually cursing at my Wallymart acquired sunshade about an hour ago.

:man::mushroom:

Very nice thing ! Did not know about it (the oem one) before ...
However, my car is 99% of time I drive it is parked in a shade .
I really care about my leather interior and wood.

Thanks gsxr. I was looking for it mostly for the MB logo.. but seeing how overpriced it is, I guess it can wait. I don't really wanna spend $47 for a non-branded one. I guess I'll hold it off for now.

I recently ordered the OEM Covercraft UVS100 in a custom color, from Summit Racing ($48, free shipping, no carry case). I'll post pics & info when it arrives.

Side note: The folding shade gets very hot in the sun, be careful when removing. I use it even in the shade, with tinted windows this makes it very difficult to see inside the car, which helps with privacy / security. Covercraft also offers a foil-type roll-up shade called "FlexShade", which MB used to sell years ago as a factory shade... before they switched to the folding type. The foil shade works even better for heat rejection, and it's not as hot to the touch when you remove it. However, the FlexShade is very noisy when you are rolling it up. I only have one of the foil types, the rest of mine are the folding shades.

I forgot to mention, the UVS100 folding shade is nice because it fits around the rear view mirror, not behind it. So if you have a Valentine-1 or other fuzzbuster above the rear view mirror (like this), the Covercraft or MB folding sun shade fits around it perfectly. The Covercraft foil roll-up shield goes behind the mirror and interferes with the V-1. Due to this, I prefer the folding type.

:tumble:

You have sun in Idaho?
In summer, yes. We just got finished shoveling 6 inches of very wet snow (more like thick water) off nearly 4000 sq ft of driveway. I may not be able to move tomorrow...

Interesting, didn't even know this is available from MB, any photos of it fitted in the car and is it specific to the w124 or does it fit the w201 too (the MB version)?

MB price list indicates the following:

Q6670001 - SUNSCRN 201/202
Q6670002 - SUNSCREEN W124
Q6670003 - SUNSCREEN C124
Q6670004 - SUNSCREEN 126
Q6670005 - SUNSCREEN R107
Q6670006 - SUNSCREEN R129
Q6670007 - SUNSCREEN W140
Q6670008 - SUNSCREEN W210
Q6670009 - SUNSCREEN R170

Dave can't take all the credit.

I posted about my MB sunshade in my owners thread.

It's original from 1993, still great condition

That got Dave going on part numbers.

I can tell you there is no better sunshade
I've been in Florida since 1988
I've tried many. None measure up.

I think the fact that mine is still in great condition after
20 years speaks to the quality

Windsceen Blocker

From time to time, I need to park the E500 in the sun, and always choose to stay away from the trees.

Anyway, has anyone found a foldable sunscreen for the windscreen that fits properly? TIA

Merged duplicate threads on same topic... scroll up and read from top down for more info.

Yes. CoverCraft UVS100 is custom fit. MB used to sell a Star-branded version, I'm not sure if it's still available... p/n Q-6-67-0002, list price $85, includes dust cover that I never use.

The generic version is available in a few different colors, lowest price is likely from either Amazon or Summit Racing, dust cover is available at extra cost.

At Summit Racing, you may not be able search by part number... if so, to choose make/year/model/color. Cost is $53 plus shipping (free ship over $99, if you buy two).

Generally takes 2-3 weeks to arrive, drop-shipped after they are custom made.

Thanks for the NLA update, Aaron. Another one bites the dust. :(

I got the covercraft in green of course, came with a storage bag and fits perfectly - so I got one for the C126 as well.

Covercraft stuff is uniformly high quality and consistent. I’ve used them for sunshades and car covers for years, and never been disappointed.

i like the roll up sunshades, as I found the rigid ones can break if abused.

Only problem I’ve had with them is the way the roll up sunshades are secured using a piece of Velcro. After a year in the Florida sun the adhesive gives up and it falls off. They used to have a Velcro wrap around strap some years ago that they abandoned for the 1” square of Velcro.

As a former data center/server guy I have a large spool of Velcro at my disposal, so I made my own strap on my sun shades. Works great.

:update: :

I recently discovered my carious cars have an assortment of different Covercraft sun shade part numbers, so I tried to figure out the differences. See list below. Each has slightly different dimensions. I found out the #10259 is identical to the now-NLA Genuine Mercedes accessory shade, and is the largest of the 124-chassis sun shades.

Oddly, Covercraft lists a different part number for the 500E which is substantially smaller (#10579) ca the OE shade. I have a couple of these small ones, but prefer the larger shade. There is at least 1 other number for 124 sedans/wagons, plus at least 2 other numbers for the 124 coupé/cabrio. Infuriatingly, the Covercraft catalog will not list fitment information - you can't look up a part number and see what they claim it fits! Soooo stupid!!

Also of interest, the W210 shade fits very nicely in the 124 (if you happen to find a killer deal on a 210 shade)... and the W211 shade fits nicely into the W210. The W211 shade does not fit well in the 124, it will not clear the larger rear-view mirror (it may barely clear the smaller 124 mirrors).

COVERCRAFT PART NUMBERS & DIMENSIONS:

UV10259xx = Nearly identical to OE / dealer sunshade Q-6-67-0002 (which is NLA from the dealer) <-- 1986-1991 W/S124
UV10515xx = 1.5" shorter in center, 1.0" shorter at the sides, same width (compared to OE / #10259) <-- 1992 W/S124
UV10579xx = 1.0" shorter in center, 2.5" shorter at the sides, same width (compared to OE / #10259) <-- Facelift W/S124
UV10602xx = 0.5" shorter in center, 1.5" shorter at the sides, 1.0" wider (compared to OE / #10259) <-- W210 shade
UV10264xx = unknown dimensions, catalog says this fits early coupé, C124
UV10542xx = unknown dimensions, catalog says this fits late coupé / cabrio, C124/A124

COLOR CODES (replace "xx" suffix with desired color, i.e. UV10259SV = Silver)

SV = Silver (Original series only)
BL = Blue (Original series only)
RO = Rose / Red (Original series only, NLA)
GD = Gold (Original series only, NLA)
RN = Green Ice (Original series only, NLA)
GS = Galaxy Silver (Premier series only)
WH = White (Premier series only)
EC = Chrome Camouflage(Premier series only)

If you are shopping for a shade for a 124 sedan or wagon, I'd recommend UV10259xx as this is the largest, and is identical in size to the original OE / dealer shade.

Thanks to inflation, the prices are now even stupider than 10+ years ago, when you could get these for under $50 delivered; or from 2017 when they were $53 each. Typical pricing as of 2024 is $75-$90 plus shipping from various vendors for the standard shade, and $85-$100 for the "premier" series, whatever that means.

Forgot to mention: If in your Google searches you find what looks like a great price ($52) at Rick's Pro Truck (link), don't fall for it. They don't have them in stock and will sit on your order for weeks until you eventually ask for a refund. I waited 5 weeks before giving up. I thought they might have some old stock on the shelf and it was a "clearance" sale, but nope. Should have been a clue that they showed NLA colors available for purchase.

Anyone have a pic of this shade installed, specifically around the rear view? I have dashcams installed in my 124s and fit may be an issue in this area.
