Working 1993+ Alarm System

Does anyone have a working alarm system? I've read around online that issues tend to point towards defective actuators or a faulty module. Many opt to simply jump the ice cube to get around the immobilizer and disconect the alarm module.

I haven't really seen much discussion on trying to get these things to work? After all, you would imagine that a car alarm system is on a high priority list of things you'd want working.

I'd love to compile any information because I hate that if you buy a 1993 or newer... you're nearly guarunteed a busted alarm system!

The alarm system is still intact on some of my cars. I generally leave them alone until they act up, then disable it. The vast majority of people ignore car alarms when the horn/sirens go off anyway, so I'm not sure if they are effective, or have any real benefit. Someone could smash the glass and steal stuff inside (without opening a door) and the alarm would never go off.

Anyway - the system is relatively simple. Brain box and microswitches at the door locks, plus the pin switches at the door jambs, and the alarm horn under the hood. Not much to it.

The logic of them seems straight forward but I feel as though there isn’t a very direct guide or write up on things to check or clean.

Basically, a few sensors, a brain, and a horn.

I want to get mine working at the very least.
