Hello Everyone . Im Mike and I am new here....
I own a '92 500E . Vehicle was at a body shop getting a fresh paint job recently and the shop lost some very important parts. Need help finding these please....!


Both L + R front Fender moldings
Both L + R Rear Quarter Panel ( small ) moldings

Im trying to see if anyone has these - any color or condition ....

Welcome! I thought I recently saw, within the past week, a company on IG start to reproduce these. @kegmankipp did you see this on IG as well?

Why don't you just order a new grill + insert of good quality from Mercedes-Benz, using one of the on-line MB parts dealers (genuine parts) that are listed here on the forum?

The search engine should provide plenty of threads about both factory/MB and aftermarket grill options, part numbers, and sources to order discounted OE parts from MB dealers.

I can't believe the shop LOST these NLA, unobtanium, irreplaceable items. How incompetent are they? Was there at least a significant adjustment in what they charged you for the paint work?

Hopefully you will be able to locate replicas for all four pieces.

So that paint shop lost exactly those four 500-specific molds, but none of the door cladding or other parts? I really don't catch that explanation given to you, the molds are either stolen by someone at the shop or a visitor coming by. Anyway the shop is responsible and have to fork out a pretty bold compensation and $3000 would be a good start, or they can try to provide original replacement parts.

Yes pretty frustrating. will be going back to the body shop on saturday to flip entire place and look myself.

the worse part is that the chrome inner molding pieces are there. seems like they just took them apart for paint prep and lost them or tossed them. im pretty bummed now. at least chrome inserts into those moldings are ok. wish me luck in the search and thank you for the help.

I purchased a new grill insert for a facelift car in 2020 (and all new aluminum trim strips) - they are not very expensive new from MB, and should all still be avaialble.

I have this trim , part # 1246904640 an original part from a low mileage crashed car, if that is what you need.
It still has the small chrome part

i spent hours flipping through the entire bodyshop and could not locate the missing parts that got prepped for paint .

all and everything missing in that photo

hope is that the european source can help me replace all (8) parts
