ZoomTubes™ - NLA from MB (Part # 119-090-14-82)

Again, I have two pairs of OE tubes for sale:

1) 80% ("B") condition, my original 1994 MY tubes - $2,500/pair
2) New OE tubes, recently purchased - $5,000/pair

I would also consider selling my current 95% ("A" condition) tubes on my car, installed about 6 years ago - $3,850/pair

Multiple aftermarket vendors have these back in stock. Get 'em while they're hot!

Interestingly, one of the tubes I received was dated 2017, the other was dated 2021!! Hmmm...

:hot:

All vendors are sold out again. No idea if this is another short-term OOS, or actual NLA.

Hope y'all loaded up when I posted 10 days ago.

Thank you again for the hint Dave. Was able to purchase a set and they got delivered last week. Third try, after two other vendors conked out on me.

I see the fcp version is made by "OEM". Would you let us know the quality when you get them?
So far, all of the OEM tubes have been Genuine Mercedes complete with MB Star logo and part number. I have not heard of any aftermarket versions appearing yet. AHAZ or RME have lower prices but charge for shipping, so you'll need to shop around a bit to get the best deal.

:bananadeath:

OK, looks like FCPEURO is sending out MB zoom tubes. The logo doesn’t quite look right to me, but it does match what’s on the car. So, it’s either authentic, or somebody put fake ones on my car last time.

They look like a quality product and snap nicely into place. But they are forced to bend. See pic.

Those are the real deal, Mike! March 2021 production as well. Really makes me wonder if the OEM is still producing & selling them via aftermarket channels, and MB is choosing to NLA them so they don't have to carry them in inventory. :scratchchin:

Your one tube does appear to be angled more than normal. How old are your engine mounts, and have you measured them recently? Also make sure the back of the headlight bucket is fully seated / downward.

:banana1:

So glad! They are slightly longer than my previous. That might account for the bend. I’ll also check the headlight bucket.

No idea on the mounts but the oil pan doesn’t seem overly close to the skid plate. Having lost my rack access, it may be a while before I do any measuring.

If the mounts aren't recent, they are definitely suspect... next time you have it in the air, measure and see what's up. The difference between new and dead is only ~8mm or so, it's tough eyeball it.

I was thinking about this. If 8mm is the difference between new and dead, could that 8mm really make a difference on the fit of the Zoom?

I was wondering the same thing. Maybe due to the location of the mounts & angle of the engine, it's a larger difference at the toobz? Not really sure.

:peep:

@Jlaa It’s a little hard to tell from your picture exactly how long the zoom tube (not including elbow) is. With the tape on top of mine, it measures about 8 3/4” end to end. What is yours?

I ordered zoom tubes from FCP euro, they will be shipping them today. I sadly inform you that I ordered the last 3 of them, so another place wiped off clean. Ofcourse they have no ETA from supplier.

I believe that one of the M117 plastic tubes is a direct fit (from the passenger side, if I remember correctly). Also I believe that 129 and other chassis' tubes can be used.

All of this info should be in other threads here on the forum with a judicious search.

Read the "Note" at the bottom of the FIRST POST in this thread, for details on the alternative toob.

:mushroom:

An alternative is also silicone hoses used for turbos, intercoolers etc... They are reinforced higth temp hoses in a wide range of diameters & lengths & shapes in the most common colors - black, blue, red. It should be a good chance to find an equal diameter as the foam tubes (...60-70mm??) and replace just the foam section and reuse the stock plastic end collars. May need minor mods, but plastic is easy to work with and heat resistant silicone glue is available if needed.

Here is a quick search: 76 mm black silicone hose - Google Search

Here is one among many suppliers in the automotive business: Automotive Silicone Hoses | Universal Silicon Pipes | Tubes For Cars
