My ~4 year search for an E60 AMG is over. I bought one and it just cleared U.S. Customs this past Friday.

First, special thanks to Rouven and Jonathan (Blue Ridge). As I narrowed my search down to a couple of cars they were very helpful digging in and helping me do homework to provide important data/insights that helped me decide to pull the trigger.

The E60 AMG’s I looked at fell into 3 different categories:
1. 957 Codes E60 AMG’s (i.e. E60 AMG ordered with 957 AMG Technik Package)
2. Aftermarket E60 AMG’s (only ones that were done by AMG Germany that were sent by the owner after the fact to AMG, but Mercedes has no E60 AMG order or docs associated with it as an E60 AMG)
3. Ones that were built/converted “as new” E60 AMG’s by Mercedes/AMG, built/converted as new E60 in Germany before delivery to owner, without 957 code, but Mercedes has full documentation of the build for E60 AMG and Mercedes has special Production Order on file for it as such.

I bought the midnight blue one that was for sale outside of Geneva Switzerland, which fell into category 3 above.

Any well documented/cared for car with known history from any of the above 3 categories would have been equally good for me.

Some background:

This particular E60 had a special Production Order on record at Mercedes for it as an E60 AMG. It was built/converted as new by Mercedes/AMG from a 1994 E500 body type.

Some details on this E60:
- Color is “Midnight Blue” (904) with Royal Blue interior (272)
- Car has ~47K miles (~75,600 km) on the odometer
- Facelift model (it was ordered and built in 2[SUP]nd[/SUP] half of 93 as a “new 94” according to Bill of Sale) built at the Sindelfingen plant
- The original owner ordered the car in 2[SUP]nd[/SUP] half of 1993 as a new midnight blue 1994 E500 body type with E60 AMG conversion and additional options, and Mercedes built it for him (with AMG of course) to his spec
- It spent its life in Switzerland, first with a Banker and then most recently with a Swiss collector (who bought it at auction for crazy $$ in 2017)
- I have a bunch of great documentation on the car (original Bill of Sale, signed documents from Mercedes on its originality that include the Production Order for E60 AMG , stamped service book, Swiss Registrations, etc.)
- Original owner paid a ton for it in ’93 ($272K USD in todays dollars)
- It would have been less expensive had he ordered it as 957 code
- He ordered some items that would not come standard with a 957 code

I was going to pull the trigger on one of the low mileage 957 codes I looked at and would have paid in the same ballpark. It was manufactured in Germany but spent its life in Japan but I was uncomfortable with lack of documentation and the fact that after it was brought from Japan back to Europe and had to be “deblinged” to return it closer to original.

While doing homework on the car I bought, and after all the photos of certain areas of the car Jonathan wanted to see, I had a local Mercedes dealer in Switzerland do a thorough PPI (measure SLS system, compression test, paint check, rear blind, accident check, etc.). They gave me a signed report from both their Director and Head of Operations. After reporting on all the things I wanted checked, the report said “In summary the vehicle is in perfect condition considering its age and it has been perfectly preserved”.
Jonathans thumbs up, plus Rouvens insight/homework, plus that sealed the deal for me.

The car is on its way to Jonathan’s shop for a laundry list of proactive items I plan to have done (e.g. oiler tube replacement, fuel lines, all fluids and filters including SLS fluids & filter etc.). Like many of you, I have always been a nut about proactive maintenance on my cars.

Once I get the car it will go in climate control storage until the late Spring. Thanks again to the great help from Rouven and Jonathan. This forum has also been very helpful and was a great resource in my search.

Open invitation: Any of you who are regulars here are welcome to come check out the car here in Massachusetts if you are ever in Massachusetts.

Many congratulations!

Looks like it's this car that were fawning over a couple of months ago:

... That is one superbly good looking automobile...

I was born and raised in MA. I don't get back often, but if you're south of Boston or out on the Cape, I would put your garage on my next itinerary. :)

I spend most summer weekends on the Cape so yes it will be with me (garaged on weekends there) and if you are down there you should come take it for a ride.

Yes it was that car (some of the things in that description when it was for sale were not quite right....English was not the sellers first language.....seller was good guy and very transparent....also docs from MB are great!)

Please do. After Jonathan is done with it, I will have it shipped here and it will go in climate controlled garage until roads are swept here in late Spring, so if it ends up here before any snow, or after that in later in the Spring 2019 you are welcome.

Congrats on a great car and enjoy it as much as possible!
I have same ‘92 500E on 904 Dunkelblau as a restoration project.
Looking forward for more interior photos and tell us how the E60 AMG engine feels on the highway [emoji3]

Thanks. I did not realize until I found the link on this forum regarding colors/quantity of W124.036's that so few Dunkelblau (904) ones were made. Assuming the the link on this forum for color codes is correct and assuming I am reading it correctly, there were 12 W124.036's of this color code made (only one came to the U.S.), so your car is definitely worth restoring.

When I started looking I wanted this color but did not know how many were made, so it was pure luck that I found this.
I am looking forward to comparing how this feels on the highway vs. the C43 I had for years. I really liked the torque on the C43 and the uniformity of it through higher speeds. I have no clue how this will feel.

Glad that you found the right car for you! Looking forward to see some more pictures of it and hope you enjoy the ownership!
More than happy to have supported you in the decision making process.
Best regards Rouven

msq,

Congrats!!!

You had the ‘BALLS & BUCKS’ to purchase what most of us on this site are yearning for but will never have and can only ‘DREAM ABOUT’.

Being on the wrong side of the pond if I’ll be lucky to even see one much less drive one.

My only chance is I could be a POWER BALL WINNER!!! Yeah!!!

I’ve asked GOD for help. He did speak to me.

GOD SAID, “Terry I have heard you, I would like to help you BUT FIRST you have to BUY a TICKET!!!”

Ha, Ha, that is funny! Although I have to now go buy ticket to fill the hole it created in my bank account!

.....actually when this car came up you made a comment in the thread referenced above, something to the effect of "someone on this board should take a run at it". I had dug into a number of these and saw this on Hemmings when it was put up and saw the thread here and thought "good idea, I am going to dig into this one".

A very beautiful car, 904 is a great and rare color for the .036s.
Once yours arrives to the US. it will be the 2nd here in the US with that color combo, but yours is a unicorn, as it has a 6 liter engine !

Congrats !

One thing I forgot to mention, if anyone is looking to import a car (in my case bring car from Europe to U.S.), I would highly recommend John James & Company out of Georgia (US) https://johnsjames.com
The person I dealt with there's name was Alex Waca, he was very good. If at some point you are considering importing a car, PM me and I will get you his e-mail.
They were very professional, experienced, best price, responsive etc.
I had no knowledge or relationship with them before but after looking into many importers/shippers/brokers and getting many quotes, they were the best.

I am not sure, I will ask him, yea they are in GA so maybe. I know he has a potential source to help me get the car from his shop up to me when he is done on the proactive maintenance he is doing.

These guys (John James & Co) didn't come up with any hidden fees or play shell games with costs, they were quite transparent. Doing it RoRo (Roll on Roll off) like they do with new cars was significantly less than Container.

I am glad to help anyone on this forum/share my experience if they ever consider bringing a car in, in order to help save them time/$$/hassle. It was weeks worth of homework/calls/inquiries for me to "get it right". However now that I had to do it once, I realize it can be done relatively inexpensively, quickly and without hassle if you pick the right firm, understand the rules, and get right paperwork in place and have right back up paperwork ready if that becomes needed (e.g. proof it's the original engine etc.).

If I may ask, was the U.S Customs expensive for the car?
Is it based on production year and the engine size?

No worries about asking, it's a fair question.
Not really expensive, not too bad.

Roughly:

- 2.5% of value of car (so unfortunately for me this ended up being a much bigger % of the total import costs than normal because of cost of the car....but on a $30K car that would be $750 USD)
- Roughly $500 USD in "Entry Fees & Service"

It's based on the price on the Bill of Sale for the car.
If you bring a car in that is 25 years old or older for personal use (not to resell), pick the right importer and follow the rules/forms it is more straightforward than I otherwise thought.

Oh ok, that’s not bad at all.
I have paid customs fees in my country for two 1992 500E’s from two different GCC countries.

One for 1700 USD and the other one higher around 2300 USD due to the Chambers of Commerce orginal vehicle certificate value was higher than the “baseline 1700 usd, plus port and agent fees to clear the containers.

Anyways, imo if we love a certain type of car, we will bring it in, no matter the costs, it’s passion.

Jonathan is doing a bunch of proactive maintenance on the car. Regarding maintenance, I am a big believer in being quite proactive and "get everything right, don't wait for the car to tell you it needs something, and don't even necessarily wait until it actually needs it in some cases, just make it as 'new' as you can, or 'when you are in there' " (without completely overdoing it, unless you are doing concours restoration). One of the things I like about this forum is it seems a lot of members do the same or even more. (When I was in my 20's, I had the garage space, shop manuals, tools and time, to work on my cars - unfortunately not anymore)

I maintained my C43 like this and at 164K miles when I sold it, the drivetrain and interior did not seem any different vs. when it had 20k miles. I was giving a young new college grad colleague a ride in my C43 one day, when it had ~150K miles and the car was 16 years old (she is not a car person) and she said "is this a new car, when did you get it?". I got a good laugh out of that.

I was happy this weekend when I got an e-mail from Jonathan with pictures of valve cover off with his commentary on how good things look. One of the things he is doing is intsalling metal oiler tubes in the car and he had just finished that up (changing out the plastic oiler tubes this model year came with. The car needed it in any case - plastic oiler tubes was not Mercedes finest moment - nor was the bad decision they made regarding wiring harnesses back then. Fortunately easily addressable, as you all know.).

Enclosed is a pic w/valve cover off. It's heartening to know that with '90's MB build quality + their bullet proof naturally aspirated 8 cylinders of that era + engine with only 47K miles + Jonathan overseeing everything and his expertise & work quality work, that I will have a car with quality and performance that will last as long as I ever could want it. Getting the pics was like Christmas arriving on Jan. 6th. Only people on this forum would understand this 51.png (for some reason when I insert the picture below it gets rotated 180 degrees, but if you rotate it back you can also see the AMG stamp on one of the camshafts - the one on top, 3 positions back from timing chain)

I admired your car at Johnathans before the holidays. It looks fantastic with that unique blue interior. Virtually new looking. It's in good hands at Blue Ridge.

drew

Hi Drew,
Great to hear your comments.
I am really glad that it is in Jonathan hands and I can't wait to get it out of storage (after I get it) in the spring and take it out for a drive. These naturally aspirated 8 cylinder '90's MB engines are my favorite and after looking for so many years for this model I can't wait to drive it. The uniform torque delivery without any gimmicks (gearing, electronics, turbo or supercharging etc.) is my favorite. Nothing wrong with turbochargers and superchargers etc, I have had cars with both and it can add a lot, but the bullet proof engineering, quality of these cars and simplicity of just 8 cylinders naturally aspirated, no overly complicated electronics and a few gears is something special on these 8 cylinder '90's MB's.

Just LOVE the blue on blue. Beautiful car!

That engine -as well as the car- sure looks perfect! Our cars love to be maintained. You treat her well.
Thanks for the update!

Thanks guys. Like I said in my original post on this owners thread - If you are ever in Massachusetts, feel free to come check the car out and take it for a ride. More than glad to share with people who have a real appreciation for the E500E cars.
You would have to put up with splitting a bottle of wine and talking endlessly about these cars. My wife will share a glass of wine with me but can't understand talking endlessly about "a machine"

Hi Mark,,,

Looking at this pic reminds me I have to install the metal oiler tubes that I recently purchased from speedy300D.
I have been dragging my butt lately on starting on the Valve Cover up-grades. New hoses, valve cover seals and timing chain guides and of course the oiler tubes. Crappy weather right now, hopefully in a month or so I’ll get started.

Hi Terry,
Good idea, for me it's one of those maintenance things that once you have done, you've checked another thing off the list for peace of mind. Kind of like the wiring harnesses (as you know), even if they are not cooked you know that someday you have to (which reminds me, I have to do it on my E320 Cab).
One of the other things that is being done on this car is motor mounts and transmission mount. I remember having the motor mounts done on my C43, even though they were not quite gone at that point, it was one of the best maintenance things in terms of how quiet that car felt at idle after it was done.

My 4+ year wait is really over now, the car showed up this afternoon. I will provide more detailed pictures tomorrow or this week and outline some of the maintenance that was done. I left the car at Jonathan's for just about 4 months with the understanding "take your time, here is my maintenance list, do whatever you would do if it was your car, nor rush, make it as close to perfect/new as you can on a 25 year old car".

How often is it in life that something exceeds your expectations? Today I had two of those instances (can't remember last time that happened) but two things stand out:

- Jonathan and his team are stars. Super knowledgeable, high quality work, great communication, they care, pay attention to details … pure raw competence. I can't say enough things about Jonathan and his crew. The driver from Reliable Transport said "they were following me on the back of my trailer and wiping off the handmarks and fingerprints I was making on the car". and "Have you seen his shop, he's got every vintage Mercedes manual all lined up on shelfs...etc." He was impressed. He was telling me how he had dropped a Ferrari off at car week in Monterey that had previously sold for ~$8M or $10M (I forgot) and picked it up at the end, a week later and it sold for some crazy amount ...something well over $25M....my point is this guy hauls around nice cars in CA all the time and he was super impressed with the Blue Ridge crew and could not say enough good things about them.

- (this sounds shameless so I almost don't want to post it but I can't not) The condition of the car is incredible. I did not expect it to be this nice. It is far better than expected. Simple example - the wood on the console looks brand new (it was never refinished), I could not find a scratch on the car. The car was owned by a banker in Switzerland and then a collector there and I knew they had maintained it well. The local MB dealer in Switzerland who I had do PPI in written report had said it was "perfect" (I never believe that).....take that and put in Jonathan's hands for 4 months and you get a car that I would put on the lawn at any car show anywhere. I don't like when people overstate things, and I did not buy this car to put at a car show....I bought it to use it and because I think W124 was best sedan ever built and add AMG into the mix and that is my perfect car.

Here is the car at Blue Ridge with some other 6.0L W124's:

https://www.500eboard.com/forums/sho...ght=Blue+Ridge

Car went right into storage until spring/summer and later this week I'll outline the maintenance/work that was done and post some more pics but in the meantime, here are some pics (p.s. last pic shows example of how clean engine was coming back from Blue Ridge):

Congrats on finally getting her home. I got a little worried for you when I spotted the $75K bid on the 1951 300 einspritzer. A beauty to admire but not to own unless you can afford to wipe your butt w/ $100.00 bills.

FYI, I really like ‘Midnight Blue’ much better than ‘Baby Blue’ BUT I must say that I spent at least 45 minutes looking at the 300’s pics and reading the comments. It belongs in a museum not on the road.

Now back to your E60. Can’t wait to see more pics and commentary from you when spring arrives.

I agree with you. The condition is incredible. This may be your best moment of ownership, enjoy it. It is so nice for me to experience a business/shop where I do not have to decide between covering every one of my expectations and some how insulting someone or being made to feel I'm wasting their time. Johnathan and his crew will get it right.

You bought the right car for the right reasons. Congrats! On a side note, even if your state requires a front plate, you might want to pick up the front plate delete / filler panel, just to have it. They are still available and quite inexpensive - arrive primered and ready for paint. Some of the other front bumper center panels are already NLA. If you can get away without a front plate, the front end looks soooo much cleaner with the blank panel.

Fantastic! Lovely specimen ... but ... DEPO?? :stirthepot: ;-)
The Depo box was probably from a 240D that tjits1 was having transported by Reliable at the same time. Just coincidence.

:pc1:

The wheels look to be AMG 18x9 monoblocs (same front and rear)? If that's the case, can I ask (1) what offset they are, (2) what size tyres you are running, and (3), do they need spacers?

Thanks in advance!

Stephen

They are 17" AMG Monoblocks 8.5 x 17 and 8.25 x 17 I believe and I believe the offsets are ET 30 and ET34 (I have original Bill of Sale calling out these wheels and also document in Greman from MB Technical Center). They were ordered new with the car and are the original wheels that came as part of MB/AMG build. I was actually surprised by this and when I originally saw the pics of the car (before buying) I thought "those did not come with the car....AMG's of that era would have had the 2 or 3 piece AMG wheels depending if it was an R129 or E60". It made me think it was non-original. Turns out I was wrong, these came with the car new as part of the AMG build. This car was built in '93 but was ordered as a '94 MY and I believe they were the same wheels that came standard on the '94 C36 (although I am not sure of the offsets on those). You could basically order what you wanted from AMG back then. When the original owner ordered this car he spent some money to get exactly what he wanted, and I am glad to have them.

Here is the exact wording fro Mercedes Technical Center regarding this car and the wheels specifically (someone can translate it....I actually paid to have the whole doc from MB technical center translated, I have to go find it, but here is the non-translated version):

"Auf AMG LM-Rad 8,5 Jx 17 H2 ET30 oder auf M-B LM-Rad 8,25 Jx H2 ET34"

Last edited:
Google translate says that is:

"On AMG LM wheel 8.5 Jx 17 H2 ET30 or on M-B LM wheel 8.25 Jx H2 ET34" (click here)

I think the order text meant the car was offered either with 8.5x17 ET30 AMG wheels, or on non-AMG, Mercedes Evo II 8.25x17 ET34. There is no other factory wheel I'm aware of that is 8.25 width. "LM" is an abbreviation for the German word that roughly translates as "light alloy".

That said, the only way to confirm the wheels on the car today is to read the part number cast into the back side. Did Jono happen to note what they were? They do appear to be 18x9.0 all around as Stephen said, but I can't tell for certain from the photos. It's also possible the wheels were changed at some point after original delivery, it's hard to confirm unless the original owner posted some selfies with the car back when it was delivered circa 1994.

:jono: :burnout:

Great suggestion on the front bumper filler panel, thank you. Do you happen to know the part number. I will definitely order it. In MA they make you have front and rear plate if you have "red & white" plates, but if you have older "green & white" plates you can just use rear plate. I have red ones on this car, but I do have older "green & white" plate that I used to have on my C43. I could put it on the car but it looks a bit beat up/dirty (even though it is clean) and does not look as clean as the new "red & white" plates. I still may swap it as I do not like having front plate. In any case, thanks for suggestion.

Fantastic! Lovely specimen ... but ... DEPO?? :stirthepot: ;-)

Ha, ha....regarding the DEPO box in the back of the Reliable truck....there are no Taiwanese knock-off parts on this car :-o. But I'll let Jonathan defend his honor on this one!

WOW- what a lovely and rare car! Congratulations on your purchase! I do love the interior colour there, hard to find. I have a Sportline leather interior the same colour for a project car of mine and prefer it over black.

WOW- what a lovely and rare car! Congratulations on your purchase! I do love the interior colour there, hard to find. I have a Sportline leather interior the same colour for a project car of mine and prefer it over black.

Your car looks like brand new and it’s obviously in the right hands now

Thanks Joe. I was blown away when it arrived yesterday after being with Jonathan. It really did look brand new and I am thinking "no way is this a 25 year old car", like I was saying, how many times (especially with cars) does something exceed your expectation (and mine was quite high based on what this cost me).

Regarding the color of the interior, one surprise (in a good way) was that the blue is a bit darker than what I had thought. It's always hard to tell from pictures and in the pictures from the seller in Switzerland the interior looked a bit lighter (its just based on lighting when the pics are taken). You already know this because you have this color.

There are some crazy details that I saw on the original Bill of Sale that now when I see in person I think "that's pretty cool, I never would have thought of that" e.g. one of the items was "wool carpet" (I think they are talking about the floor mats that are blue wool with leather bound) and they have this nice detail of these shiny metal fasteners that secure them.

Also on the original Bill of Sale the original owner ordered a custom blue leather fire extinguisher cover (vs. std). I look at this stuff and think "was he just looking to spend $$", but in any case I am glad he did it. Now I just have to get it out in the Spring and drive it!

The wheels look to be AMG 18x9 monoblocs (same front and rear)? If that's the case, can I ask (1) what offset they are, (2) what size tyres you are running, and (3), do they need spacers?

Thanks in advance!

Stephen

I run 9x18 Monoblocks square. Standard ET for the 210 E55 which I believe is 32 or 33. You will likely need a small spacer in front if you want to run a larger tire than 245/40/18.

Hi Drew, I have a set of staggered OZ Opera wheels Fronts 18 x 8.5 Rears 18 x 10 that I may put on in the spring when it comes out of storage. Rear tires on those wheels are 285/35 ZR 18. I am under the impression that I will not need spacers on those as they fit on a 500E w/out spacers.

I am going to keep the car original except for a couple of easily reversible bolt ons like maybe trying out these wheels and I was maybe thinking of avant garde 6 ribbed grille (but the only ones I find available are aftermarket ones, which I was trying to avoid....but others have had good luck with them, so who knows).

In any case, anything that is more than 1 hour easily reversible bolt on, I would not even try.

Yeh, quite apart from the E60 described (jealousy doesn't come into it, right!), I'm running AMG 9X18 monoblocs square - with 15 mm spacers front and rear. I've 275/35's fitted to the rear, but can't seem to exceed 245/40's on the front, due to fouling the fender on speedy undulating right hand bends - plus keeping the ABS/cruise control happy!. Have you tried anything wider than 245's on the front - in a set-up that doesn't cause the ABS to throw a wobbly?

Rgds, Stephen

What happened to the rear license plate? Did someone drill through the short sides of the US license plate to mount it on the European mounting bosses or something?

You may this helpful if you have not already addressed this: 2phast here mentions the partnumber that allows you to mount a US license plate on the European mounting bosses: https://www.500eboard.com/forums/showthread.php?t=13278&p=172005&viewfull=1#post172005

As well, here is a picture of one (sourced from a scrapyard): https://www.500eboard.com/forums/showthread.php?t=13278&p=172241&viewfull=1#post172241

The guys at Blue Ridge modified my plate (not the car) to make U.S. plate fit on Euro car. I wanted plates on the car before it shipped up to me. We did this intentionally since they did not have the adapter on hand and Reliable was picking up the car before we could get one. Yes, I had seen that thread on the rear plate adapter.
No mods done to this car! I'll likely buy the rear plate adapter in case I ever sell the car, but I like how flush the plate looks without it. BTW, your stepping on a bit of hollowed ground here, it was actually Jonathan's Dad who figured this out and made it work without having to do anything to the car...I was impressed!

I am impressed with your "command +" on the browser to pick this detail up ... I recall reading one of your posts where you removed the headlight knob on your car to clean dust behind it and discovered how the W124 headlight knobs wear......OCD is underrated, no joke ;-) ....if you make it back East this spring and summer come check it out and take it for a ride...I am more than glad to have another critical and discerning eye on the car, it will allow me to take a break. :yahoo:

p.s. just tried... http://www.oldbenz.co/license-plate-...201-1248170011 takes my info them bombs out on "payment" step ..... I'll call them or find another source

TRANSLATION -- quit yer pixel peeping. :-) :-)

OKOK - I'll stop. OCD is a disease. BTW I find it vaguely apropos that you picked the car up at a Gulf gasoline station, whose colors, orange and cyan, adorn the livery of the race cars of a German maker of ass-engined cars who have nooooooo connection evvveeeeeeerrrr to the w124.036 says Honch.

Ha, ha .... no I actually really enjoy it...I had read your whole thread about the rear deck/trunk lid on your red car a while ago and thought it was great......I thought "holy cow, there's a guy on the West Coast crazier than I am with this stuff"....then I discovered you weren't the only one and I would probably come in 10th or 11th place (best case) on this forum when it comes to this stuff.....actually not likely not in the Top 25....I wouldn't even get a playoff berth!

(Didn't think about the Gulf thing, but you're right. Also, Reliable Truck could not fit in my neighborhood. I suggested the driver go to the Gulf/Truck refilling station 2 mins away and I picked up the driver so he could scout out my neighborhood. Between low power lines on one street leading up and really low tree branches it was a no-go to get his truck in. He told me a really funny story about how he delivered a high end car to the Hamptons 1 p.m. on a summer Sunday afternoon and end up tearing down a communication line that supplied internet to everyones house. A bunch of neighbors were then at their front summer home doors yelling at him as they called the police. The police showed up and told all the neighbors "we told you to bury that line or put it up higher then 14 feet and you still haven't". I got a kick out of it....I could picture a bunch of wealthy Wall Streeters at their summer homes acting like their world had just come crashing in over a little thing like that. The driver was a good guy.)

MSQ = That's interesting, I have that same set of wheels, excepting the rears in my set are 9". I have run 10" 285/35 in the rear although the wheel was a 2pc. SL wheel. I believe the ET was 28. No issues. Terry and others run this size. I believe the ET on the 8.5 OZ is 34. I can't remember the proper tire size with the best O.D. match for these. I want to say 245/40.

Stephan = I have not gone larger than 245 on the front. Again, I believe others have but I would expect issues/close tolerances.

If either of you are looking for a lengthy read search the many discussions on the subject and the accompanying issues with spacers and proper size and length lug bolts. Nearly all aftermarket wheels require cone seat bolts as opposed to MB spherical seat. Rear bolt length, which could be different for each wheel is critical at the rear of the 036 due to parking brake interference.
