Re: Owner - Jelmer
I just came back from a 850km trip through Germany, went to visit Bremen for the weekend. While there, we found out that it actually has a Mercedesstraße, which is where the SL, SLK, CLK and C-class are built. Of course it was closed on Saturday, but during the week you can get a guided tour through the factory. Good excuse to go back in a bit, then we get to see where our C-Class was built
One of the first things I did when we passed the border (literally 2 minutes after) was plant my foot into the carpet. Kickdown from 120km/h to third, and off we went. I knew the part between 120km/h and 180km/h, beyond that was once when it was completely broken and once for a second in the Netherlands. Heart beating quickly when we passed 220km/h, 240km/h... and even 260km/h. The result:

I spent more time above 200km/h than under (where possible and allowed) and had no trouble with overheating, shaking, wind, gearbox, etc. Heck, even my fuel economy didn't suffer too badly(1L/6.5KM).
She's finally out of puberty and become an adult!
A few things crossed my mind while driving:
- This car needs a fifth gear, desperately!
- The proud fresh-out-of-the-factory-LEDdified-leasecar drivers don't like me
1.6 Turbo is NOT enough to keep up.
- I can't keep up with a brand new CLS55, somehow.
- I pity those without Autobahn access

- Though still fun, the Autobahn is less than it was - much 120km/h signs and more often than not there's roadworks following up a few KM of unrestricted road.
- The "Please move out of my way" look from people behind while stuck behind an overtaking truck that gets replace with "WTF JUST HAPPENED!!!!" look when I open up is EPIC.
- The car needs a warning label.
Warning: Driving this vehicle is addictive!
I also developed a theory about these cars, that I'm sure you'll agree upon. It was built by aliens from a far away planet. They came here to educate us simplefolk about cars, and they made one hell of an example car. Then they left, and we forgot. Either that, or the Germans are those aliens.
I would like to thank you all for your input, assistance, and most of all your patience with all my dumb questions and off-topic blabbing. Though it might sound mushy mushy, reading all those topics about this vehicle did strengthen my resolve to keep going and keep fixing. Now, I'm unstoppable, of course. I love this car.
