12 month Waxes - Fusso Coat, Ceramic Waxes etc

Hi All,

I am always interested in detailing products and waxes. I haven’t got started with ceramic coatings just yet but I have heard of 1 year waxes which should be easy to apply and bead water to protect the paint.

Winter is coming so I want to apply a high quality wax to all of my cars before storing them. I have bought 2x to try out first which appear to get great reviews online. I will coat a car with each product and see which lasts the best.

Is anyone else using a WAX product that lasts very long term?

Within the next 2 weeks when these 2x products arrive I will prep my daily driver w211 and apply these 2x waxes to each front fender and the Ebay 9H ceramic coating to the bonnet. It will be very interesting to compare how these 3x will hold up in a "real world" scenario.

Just applied this ceramic coat to one of my cars last week, so I have no experience yet with its durability. It was easy to apply though. Got it using a $25 off coupon.

I have seen videos on that product and it does appear good. Note though that this thread is more aiming for Waxes and ceramic infused waxes which offer extreme durability of 9months to a year. I think these will be significantly easier to apply as a DIY prospect VS ceramic coatings.

For prepping paint I have recently bought a new orbital polisher (VS my old rotary one) and a cleaner polish.

My polisher is Dodo Juice Buff Daddy, and the polish I find works amazing in one pass is Dodo Juice Lime Prime.

The pad is equally important so I am using a Black Microfibre Flexipads pad. These 3x items combined give fast, effortless and AMAZING results trust me. Ive been polishing my own cars for years and never has it been so easy until I got this latest setup together. A long lasting wax is all I need now. I have high hopes on the Fusso product - it gets solid 5 star reviews on amazon etc.

On top of this I have invested in alot of detailing products this year which would require a whole new thread to cover :oldster: The Kranzle washer is by far my best investment though.

I've got the fusso 99 12m dark coat on my 500E. Lasts very well, and very easy to apply. You can coat 20-25 cars with a single can so really a no brainer.

Think it was detailing product of the year a few years back?

I got to use the Fusso wax for the first time yesterday. Nice product to use I always go for paste waxes. Apply and leave to haze for 10 mins and residue comes off very easily. No excess white hazz either which I like.

The most time was spent cleaning, iron fallout, bilt hamber clay and buffing the paint first. Unfortunately it rained immediately when the wax was applied so I didn't get photos. I'll get pics this weekend. The S600's black paint came up amazing with the dodo juice products and Fusso wax

The Fusso Coat has been holding up well. Infact it is so good at shedding water and dirt it's only today I had to wash it again!

The water shedding abilities are almost as good as "proper" Ceramic coatings

This was also only one coat of the Fusso - I did mean to add a second coat but was rained out the first time around. The next time I wash it and weather permitting I will add a second layer of the Fusso wax.

I also just got 2.5L (Black Friday Deal) of a SI02 Ceramic detailing spray. I intend to start using that when drying the car off after a wash. To help top up / maintain the protection and beading levels each wash.

The Fusso coat is definitely good I need to get my other benzes coated with it

Pretty cool how hydrophobic the Fusso is -

My S430 tonight (Recently waxed with Maguire's)

Meant to post pictures of the car sooner - better late than never. Got a topup detail spray today also. Car is getting a full repaint, new fenders etc and AMG S65 pro refurb on the wheels soon. But not looking bad for a 2003 with 144k odd miles all original paint

Yes the W211 was washed today too :wormhole: That car gets washed every 6 months whether it needs it or not.

I will soon post a thread showing the detailing products I have amassed over the past couple of years :choochoo:

I really do use all the products on a regular basis and it makes maintaining the cars so much more enjoyable. Far exceeding the quality of wash VS the local carwash which I haven't been to in nearly 2 years and I will not be going back

Looking good, JC. The color on that 430 is still one of the best ever, IMO.

maw

Thanks and yes that Metallic Almandine black is my favourite colour too. That poor S430 is getting attention soon too. It will go to bodyshop also. Both W220s need to be in primo condition by July for a family wedding where both cars are the wedding cars

I tried the Fusso wax (for light finish) on my wagon a couple of weeks ago. My 500E gets the sole garage spot, so my E550 and the wagon are parked outside. I have been hoping to find a wax that will last a long time in those conditions. It hasn't been long enough yet to test that hope, but I thought I'd share some observations.

First, the wax has a petroleum smell. That is neither good nor bad (I think), it's just notable as most of the other sealants I've used have a much more earthy clay smell.

Applying the fusso is easy. I quickly realized that a little goes a long way. I was applying too much to start, but I don't think that had any negative consequences other than wasting product.

Unlike JC220, I found that the residue was harder to remove than other products I've used (Griots, Ammo NYC). I saw this as a good sign--if it's hard for me to wipe off, it's probably hard for the elements to remove too.

Because it took more elbow grease to remove than other products, I underestimate the time needed to remove it. As a result, by the time I got to the end of the car, the wax had been on for about twice the recommended time. However, I didn't notice that the last panels were any harder to wipe off than early ones. Perhaps because it was a little on the chilly side when I was doing it.

I didn't have time to fully prep the car, but doing so would make a big difference I think. This car could really use a clay bar treatment. And it hasn't had a professional polish. When I bought the car (year and a half ago), I used a very gentle polish, applied by hand. But I didn't have time to do a "proper" job by taping off, and polishing right to, trim pieces like windshield washer nozzles. Nevertheless, at the time, my polish job made a big difference. And the white finish is more forgiving of missed spots and swirl marks than would be a dark finish. However, I found that, after the Fusso, the parts that had not been polished stood out more than before. The wax improved the finish enough that the less-than-ideal parts were more noticeable. So, as with most things, the more you put into it, the more you get out of it.

Now on to the hydrophobic qualities - it's really impressive. Like nothing I've tried before. Going out to the car after a night of rain, it looked like the car had just been washed. Not a speck of dirt or dust on it. Everything just flowed right off. Even after driving the car on the highway during the rain. There were some streaks of dirt at the front of teh hood, kind of like tiger stripes. But the rest of the car was spotless.

Now to see how long it lasts on an outdoor car. But so far, so good. When I notice that the water repelling is wearing off, I'll at least clay bar it before applying another coat.
