124 HVAC Part number list:
======================================================
124-800-00-75 = Defroster pod (38) (dual chamber) – our ACC-Di will fit
124-800-02-75 = Center vent pod (41) (single chamber, attaches w/3 clips) - NLA from MB. Order a 124-800-03-75 and move the internals to the 02-75.
124-800-03-75 = Diverter pod (40) (single chamber, small, attaches w/3 clips) - we can provide complete unit.
124-800-04-75 = Recirculation / fresh air pod 1 (42) (dual chamber) - our ACC-Di will fit
124-800-11-75 = Recirculation / fresh air pod 2 (42) (dual chamber) - our ACC-Di will fit
124-800-01-75 = Foot well pod (39) (round, small, up to VIN A289309, 1986 to early 1987, two required). Use 124-800 0375 NLA
124-800-09-75 = Foot well pod (39) (white rectangle/oval), from VIN A289310, late 87 through 95, one required) – oval actuator – NLA

A set of our ACC-Di for your late W124 will have 3 part #2010 and 3 part #2020
There are no rebuild diaphragms available of any kind (good OR bad) for the small round pods (diverter 40 & center vent 41) and early foot well (39), nor for the rectangle pods (39) (late foot well).

How to repair W124 center vent vacuum actuator (124-800-0275) (DRAFT)
  • Remove the dash.
  • Remove the center vent plenum (1) as shown below (4 screws and 2 clips).
  • Part 41 is MB part # 124-800-0275 – no need to remove it from the plenum.
  • 1567094633282.png
  • Carefully remove the connecting pin from the part 41 flap lever – see below.
  • 1567094656465.png
  • Using a small screwdriver, remove the top of the -0275 actuator on the plenum by depressing one of the clips to release it from the slot – the rest will come loose easily – see below. Remove the old rubber diaphragm and link from the body of the actuator.
  • 1567094680560.png
  • Repeat step 4 above to open the NEW - 0375 actuator supplied. Remove the new diaphragm and link and insert it into the -0275 actuator on the plenum. Reattach the spring and top closure – make sure all four clips are secure.
  • Turn the plenum over and re-connect the link to the flap with the white pin shown in step 3 above.
  • Use your hand vacuum pump and test the actuator for correct operation.
  • Repair the 3 large dual actuators while the dash is removed.

George, on the 124 chassis, the center vent pod (124-800-02-75) and diverter pod (124-800-03-75) are different diameters. The internal components cannot be swapped.

Your photos and explanation above are for the diverter pod, which is attached to the top of the assembly with the 3 pins & round metal locking clips. This is NOT the vacuum pod/actuator for the center vent flap; the center vent pod is located inside the heater box. Note that part # 41 is MB part # 124-800-03-75, not -02-75.

The 2010 repair kit will rebuild the center vent pod 124-800-02-75. Works great!
The 2010 repair kit will *not* rebuild diverter pod 124-800-03-75. (This is not currently a problem, the diverter pod is still available new).

Where do I start?
The windshield is always freezing and no air comes from the center vents.
There is so much information but where do I start from?

Pull the passenger airbag, and test each of the 7 vacuum lines at the distribution manifold with a MityVac. Also confirm there is vacuum present at the top/inlet port with the engine running. That is the 1st step in troubleshooting.
